    eBayer gone mad?

The real idiot happens to be whomever buys the thing.

Waving 4 fingers and a thumb...day after day after day...

This individual (or a tape thereof) has made it onto 20M. I hear that bit at least once a week on either 14.275ish or 14.313. Definitely from the desert SW, as I don't hear the station unless an opening to that area is in progress.

    10 meters is wide open

If anyone is itching to do some PSK on 10, I just got a Signalink USB connected into the shack. 28.120 is in one of the 940's memories along with the other popular watering holes. For that matter let's do some RTTY.

    $1000 MFJ Balun?

I did my left hand middle finger earlier in the year with an angle grinder while cutting a bunch of steel bars inset into our basement walls. Wife said she heard me cussing but didn't hear a tool drop beforehand - she figured she'd better get downstairs. Didn't bleed much at all; grinding...

    Cb radio operators

Don't know how much RAM/CPU you have on your system but you may wish to look into installing VMWare Player then creating an XP virtual machine. Give it about 1GB of RAM to work with and install all of your Windows-based software within. I've had to do this with several platforms I use...

38 LSB "Day after Day after Day"..biggest loser on the air.

That particular saying has even made it onto the amateur bands - either in recorded or live form. Y'all are not alone.

    The lullaby on channel 17

I hear both the air horn and the jingle when the band's up - strongest signal is off my SW-facing sloper.

How bad is it in your area?

The FCC is trying the attrition gambit: Baxter cannot legally operate without a valid license so they'll tie up his application for renewal for a protracted amount of time (pending payment of fines levied, of course) and hope he'll voluntary turn his license in, as was the case with WB2OTK...

How bad is it in your area?

"Set aside for administrative review" is the last I heard regarding the matter, and that particular sword cuts both ways: His license has never been officially canceled.

How bad is it in your area?

There are fewer and fewer CB users in my area these days. We used to have a lot of fun on 11M, and some of us still use it for bike-to-bike communications when on a run. Ch19 is fairly active during the day, as there are many nearby interstates...but just one or two 'local' channels that see...

    8.990.000 numbers station?

Try being married to a PGH native/Steelers fan: I've heard ALL the Browns jokes!

    12 meter popularity ???

I've recently been hearing a fair number of Spanish speaking stations (whom I presume to be in Mexico or Latin America) clustered around 24.635, 24.776 and 25.005. Comms are in SSB, and given the number of roger beeps associated with the transmissions I doubt they're government or commercial in...

Some of you guys need to learn how to bid on auction sites

Thread bump. Those of us who use and/or repair older, less-common gear (think Cubic, Drake, etc) find eBay a godsend when it comes to sourcing parts, rigs and accessories. I got lucky in the search for certain Cubic stuff twice at Dayton...and many more times than that on eBay. Time is...

11 meter freq's from around the world.

I see a lot of references to packet radio in that list. Have any packet stations been heard recently on or around the 11M band?

    3.892

You can probably thank the 3885 crew (or their sycophants) for that. Used to hang out on 3892 years ago with a bunch from OH, PA, NY and VA. Another crowd - primarily in TN and KY - operated on 91 in the evenings. As soon as the band opened to them, myself and whomever else wanted to join...
