    IC718 is a good rig at a good price. I would go for the FT-991A, though. That gets you 6M, 2M and 70cm as well as HF. And I'm a long time Yaesu fan. Don't scrimp on the power supply, either.     This antenna design is in some military field manuals as a vertical half rhombic. It works best if it is at least two wavelengths at the lowest operating frequency, but it does work at shorter lengths.

    That's what I'm using with my DX86V. On-air reports are that it has a more mellow sound than the Astatic 636L and RD104.

    I have one too, and it works great for me. The only thing I'm not crazy about is that you can't do channel steps while being able to see the freq you're on. I have a new Lincoln II+ that I'm probably going to put in my truck to replace the quad 6, primarily for that reason.
