I have been running an ICOM 4100a for several years in my pickup along with my ICOM 7000. Both perform very well & they are pretty simple to operate. I used an RT Systems cable to program the 4100a so it was very easy. I always run it on High Power since we have few repeaters here locally.

I use a Quality Studio Microphone that does not pick up most background noises. The HEIL FIN with my ICOM 7610, Electro Voice RE 320 with my ICOM 9100, HEIL PR20 on many radios, & HEIL iCM on my older ICOM radios are very very good at cancelling the background noises.

I am now using the ClearSpeech DSP module with my YAESU FT-920 as a backup radio & it really helps it. I don't believe the AF DSP in the 920 is up to what the IF DSP is in the ICOM radios, so the external DSP makes a bigger difference on the received signals. I own the same Dual Inline unit...

YEASU = YAESU & more than likely it will Not work. The LDG meter that was made for the ICOM 7700 works with the ICOM 7800 but it can't do both bands just one, but it does work. Basically, the same radio with two independent receivers.

Are these the DXA or SDX versions? I used an 800SDX for 23 years with no issues & I now have the 800DXA with no issues. I have never heard of this issue so it's news to me. The only difference is the models I have owned have the memories & the regular 800's do not.
