Once again they do not make them like they used to... revisited for the 128 time

Minuteman II mic? If so they take a TR175 7.5V battery, not a 9V...

How old is my Cobra 142GTL?

It's not that tricky because by 1989 they had moved production from Taiwan to The Philippines, so it's easy to figure out the year of manufacture.

    Dave made 1x4 original

You should use the radio to vary the output, not the amp. The variable in the amp will fail over time. Conversely you can measure the resistance where you have the 100 watt deadkey and replace the variable in the amp with a fixed 5 watt resistor and that will be much sturdier. As far as the...

    Opinion Please

I have never been that much of a fan of driving 2879's with a 2879. The 2290 takes a bit less to drive it, but is a slightly lower output device. For me I'd want the 2290. Others will disagree with me.

    Mobile Ham operations banned?

What bothers me is they make exemptions. I really don't care what your job is, we are all Human beings. If operating a radio with a microphone is going to distract me while I'm driving, a police officer will be just as distracted. If they want to try and way "he has been trained to use his...

Looking for a DIN sized CB radio with a couple of specific features

I think all of the DIN sized radios will have a front mic because they are designed to be mounted in dash if the user so chooses. I think your best option would probably be to look at the Lincoln II. That seems to tick all of the boxes you are looking for.

Looking for info on Texas Star 350DX

What schematic is that? That's no DX350 that I've ever seen. This is a standard DX350 with 2 2SC2879 transistors.

    Bird 43 multiplier scale reading

There are adjustments on the board to calibrate the multipliers. I have compared a 50 watt multiplied and a 500 watt next to each other and they are spot on with each other. You just need to make sure the calibration is correct. Also there is the possibility of one of the slugs being out of...

D-104M6B wiring diagram for an ADI AR-147 or AR-146

Any scans I can find of the schematic for the radio look like they were scanned with a potato. That makes it very difficult to figure out the wiring. Also I don't know if the D104 is compatible with this radio.

2sc2290 in a connex or galaxy

I don't know that I would want that on the factory heat sink. It really wasn't designed to dissipate that much heat. It's an interesting concept to deal with a discontinued part, but I just don't know.
