Wire up a lapel mike and clip it to the sun visor or headliner. Use a foot switch as the PTT. That's what a LOT of undercover surveillance vehicles do. It is hands free and does not have the problems of trying to use VOX in a noisy mobile environment.
Your best bet is to leave it alone and one of these if you want a vertical. I say this because if you need to ask how, than you are likely not able to understand the complexities of a multiband trapped antenna. In the end, you will end up ruining the Serio.

Nobody has even mentioned that little thing they would have to penetrate called the ionosphere. It works both ways. I would imagine the HF signal would not be able to penetrate it for the same reason Earth based signals bounce off it. The ISS is above it.
Yes......I said that, but you may have missed the context it was meant to be. I prefer natural intelligence as opposed to artificial intelligence in humans. Basically saying that I prefer REAL knowledge as opposed to perceived knowledge.
The aurora itself doesn't but rather what causes the aurora sure does. Check this link out to another thread here on the forum.

Preppers tend to be a little bit on the edge anyway, IMO. A lot of them know just enough to boost their confidence enough to make themselves look foolish. There is no EMP associated with a CME however there is indeed the possibility of electronics being affected by them. This happens either in...
Lots of non-original equipment is fine on or in vehicles. Sounds like the cop was being a dick. I know of one or two around here that have them and so far no issues. I'm on the opposite coast BTW.......Nova Scotia.
Lots of reported sighting of the Aurora Borealis here in Nova Scotia last night. Lots of pix on FB. Didn't see any myself, had to go to bed due to work and my location is quite low with hills around me so anything low on the horizon gets missed.
I could never understand why they called it a V-quad. A quad has 4 sides. A V-quad has three sides and in fact is a delta loop. Call it what you will but a V-quad is really a delta loop, nothing more and nothing less.
The simple answer is the same answer most people do not want to hear. Gain figures in MOST cases are pure bullshit and designed for sales, not truthfulness. CB antenna have the worst reputation for that. Not to say SOME ham antennas are not exaggerated, but for the most part they are much more...
I take exception to that assertion. I am an only child and I grew up showing respect to others. I also matured rather quickly as both my parents worked and we lived just outside of town. I learned to do things for myself rather early. Any lack of social skills I may have are limited to simply...
They think it is unsafe to take one hand off the wheel to use a 2-way radio, yet it is fine........if not encouraged, to buy a Tesla where you can take BOTH hands off the wheel, have a nap, and it will drive itself to your destination. Damn......I hate being born with common sense and a high...
LOL That IS the parasitic suppressor. It consists of a carbon resistor somewhere around 40-60 ohms and the coil shunting it. Easy to check. Lift the anode cap and remove one end of the coil from the resistor to measure the resistor.
LOL Check out the specs on a Trylon T-500. No worries about the legs bending. It is 18 inches wide at the top and 42 inches wide at the bottom with HEAVY 60 degree angle legs, not tubular. It will support 52 square feet at the top in a 70 mph wind. The cable attachment point will be about 25...
Better follow up that rescue tape with some regular electrical tape. It is not UV resistant. I found that out when I found that it almost completely disappeared after a few years. I now cover it with Scotch-88 electrical tape and it has lasted well over a decade.............and still counting.
