That, or Joe Walsh. In 2005 an MS-7 (Drake) external speaker was worth $306 to him. Two days later I picked one up at Dayton - which for all intents and purposes was new in box - for $50. Even on Ebay, most don't fetch much more than $100. Go figure.

I currently own 624, 625, 641 and 642 base rigs plus a parts 642, along with two 639 mobiles - which used the same chassis as the 642. My only gripes: Being single conversion and with an IF stage which has just the right LO frequency, the receivers are prone to image response from SWBC stations...

Get your antenna as high in the air as you can and work further still. In doing so you'll lower its angle of radiation - and lengthen that "first hop" distance.

Re: Echo and roger beeps in the amateur bands: Though I don't agree with their usage, can anyone post the section of 47 CFR 97 that specifically prohibits a licensed amateur from utilizing such? And I'm not interested in Todd's or anyone else's "subjective" opinion...just the facts. In...
