After a long delay I eventually got the TS-50, glad I did, what a performer.
Much easier and intuitive to use than the quad 6 and resolves signals out of the crud far better too, even the internal speaker sounds great compared to every other internal speaker I have in other radios.
The mic up...
All the correct lead spacings and height widths are available for thru hole but it depends on how much time and effort you want to put into it.
I use a lot of different supply companies from all around the world in my Electronics design and manufacturing company to get what I need and have...
Great analysis.
In the end I will buy the TS-50 as well, as you say the Quad 6 will likely be the best at resolving signals out of the crud.
Already have the 6666 so it will be nice to see the comparison and its pretty much just SSB that I use but having the TS-50 will give me the rest of the...
Had considered that before but I have been a bit lazy, I am certain that the amount of RF radiated would be out side of total allowed EIRP figures but whether they could cure it is a different matter as it's likely that it's being conducted into the power grid by other end users.
My main concerns are the ability to pull ledgability out of the the very hash heavy environment I am working out of, I have an 11KV step down transformer right next to my property and it seems to drag in and re-radiate all sorts of crap from 20 to about 30 MHz.
Had been considering something...
For general functionality and also readability on receive (the TX is a given) what would you choose?
I already have the Quad 6 but am looking at a TS-50 as an upgrade....or is it?
I built one of these back in about 1983 but my design frequency was in the 500 MHz range for use in commercial systems, was a lot of fun designing it, as I recall what I figured out for theoretical construction panned out very well empirically using return loss bridges and all the rest of the...
Thats great news, I had tried accessing some info on export mods a few weeks ago only to find anything of interest that had been there previously was gone with just a bare skeleton intact.
Kudos to you for this initiative, too much irreplaceable info to loose to to the mists of internet info past.
Many years ago (about 48 years ago) I built an antenna that is ideally suited for trees has fantastic band width, gain (over iso), omni directional, low angle of radiation and cheap as chips to build and super easy to tune with great low VSWR.
What I built with coaxial braided cable was a SLIM...
You did the right thing, these radios are a classic that sadly Galaxy hasnt seen fit to continue.
If I had seen it for sale I would have jumped on it too as it never is a bad thing to have 2 DX-95T2's.
I am still looking for a 2nd one!
Would be interesting to know how many were made and sold, I suspect very few judging by the almost total lack of internet discussion of these and the almost complete absence in the 2nd hand market if I were to guess a hundred or so at most.
What really surprises me the most is the short period these were available for, obviously the sales figures weren't there to support the production.
Perhaps the target market were scared off by the touch screen? or perhaps the target market is not very adventurous in their tastes preferring...
So true, a nice icom 718 would be very nice indeed and likely cheaper now but I like the direct simplicity of the RHF 618 , wont say its dumbed down but with some modern ham gear they have so many functions that you never get to use them and to make so many functions available simplicity of use...
Yes saw the ebay one in the UK closed earlier this week but I was on the trail of a new one so gave it a miss.
Oh well I will keep looking, used is looking like the best option hence the post on here.
I have found that the hardest work normally produces the worst results and that the easiest work always produces the most profit......
Not just a trite saying but a real fact.
What I like about it is the scanning and memory functions, looking at the CB radio Magazine you tube video review it just looks so simple to use.
Ranger certainly put a lot of effort into the face panel to radio hardware interface and ended up with a very intuitive radio maybe even better...
