Regarding Lou Franklin's "Understanding Cb Radio".....

I wound up getting it (the 3 book set).... actually, my oldest son knew I wanted the set so he got it for me for Christmas several years ago. I am so glad I did! I have read sections of it like a "novel". This is absolutely a "one of a kind" book... I have never seen another with such...

    Quality dynamic replacement mic

Mike, I have never modified a radio to accept an electret. Is the idea to 1) add the resistor to tie power to the audio line, and 2) the cap is to pick the mic audio off of the audio line and pass it on to mic amps? I'm guessing so ... but it never hurts to ask....

    Sams PhotoFacts Collection

Dan, I hate to ask (since I am unable to help on these SAMS anymore).... But if you have CB# 132 Could you see if that volume has a Grand Prix D-1325RF and if so.... copy that one for me please? I got a hint today that THAT radio is a carbon copy of an old "Smokey 23" radio that belongs to a...

Starting to gather up and "triage" some of the questionable radios I have been collecting....

I hope you all don't mind... but it kind of IS another part of this "CB world" we are in...... So far I have: JC Penney 6247 - No RX or TX.... AM/USB/LSB none of the above. Not with internal OR external speaker DO...

Question regarding an old Johnson 123A

As it turns out... the protection diode appears to be shorted on this one... (low ohms BOTH ways across power. I scanned over that procedure you are talking about and it actually makes circuit changes inside the radio. But I really would not have expected to use a case screw for power supply...

Question regarding an old Johnson 123A

I am just going through a bunch of my acquired radios to catalog the various illnesses that they may have and one is Johnson 123A. What I ran in to is certainly not a show stopper... For power, on the rear there is a little red plastic fitting that appears to hold a male spade lug... inset a...

Do you live in an Urban, Rural or Backwoods area??

Suburban area about 17 miles east of Houston, TX. Sadly.... completely civilized. To this point... I have made good on my promise to NEVER live in an HOA. At least I can say that.

    Finally!!!!! The "RE-ORG"!!!!!!!!!!!

:) I don't know that it will ever become an income source for me. I'd have to be good at it first... and I am just trying to make ME happy that I can start getting into it. Since i moved into operating system software back in the mid 80s, I lost a LOT of ground in building "hands on...

First sign of life... (New Bench in operation!)

... I promise I will shut up after this!!!!! I put two radios on here tonight for giggles. A really nasty looking 40 channel Cobra 29 (not GTL or LTD... just.... 29) and a 23 channel Cobra 21. This pic has the 21 on at the time. RCV test works fine. The pic is TX test and the Bird, the SA...

    Finally!!!!! The "RE-ORG"!!!!!!!!!!!

My bench had always been shared in duty as my "work at home" spot as well. It had stuff all over it to do with "work".... other stuff I just never had a plave for.... it was a mess. The test equipment was all over the place and NOT laid out well for.... frankly.... ANYTHING. The 26th of...

Clarifier, Locked or Un-locked. What does this mean?

I like the idea of calling the clarifier either "Tracking" or "Fixed". I know... sigh.... nobody asked!!!!!!! But to me that is even more descriptive of what is going on.... or, depending on the modification technique, one is ATTEMPTING to make go on.
