Lords I did this mod to an older Delta force..all I can say is wow!!! & thanks:) at 14.6 volts mine keys 2 watts swings almost 50 pep.. everyone says it sounds great also :)

Hey switchkit, just a thought..but if your gonna replace the chip you might want to consider installing an ic socket..they're cheap as dirt and sure do make reinstalling a breeze!! No fear of damage from heat or static..usually pick em up at rat shack.Just count the number of pins and give them...
I have done this mod that loosecannon recommened to an older 148 & a couple of uniden Grants and was very impressed :) Put the variable power on the swr cal spot and get 25 watt am / 30 ssb...nice & clean!!!Awesome mod
"Older" stereo equipment (haha) I have some... cheap tv's on rabbit ears come to mind real quick :) I had a neighboor (the only one who complained) that I was coming in on his computer speakers... Tried low pass filters without much luck. Took some torrid chokes over and wrapped speaker wires...
You got that one right Karo!!! As most of the other exports are made by or have ranger"s help. Wonder how many (mosfets)they can squeeze into one and still look like a mobile? :?:
Sounds like an alignment/tuneup needed...try to tune/peak on channel 20. I have done this mod on several Cobras, Unidens, Galaxies, etc. You can play with cap values to get more out also :wink:

Unsoldered selector from board, dissasembled and cleaned the contact wheel inside and the 16 little contact "points" reinstalled and it works like new... :wink:
Thanks for the reply...yea it was a bit tiedious?! but we really like the older models. The cold solder joints was the first thing we looked for...looks like I might me able to unsolder the whole swithch from board...take apart and spray with windex I mean contact cleaner...If I do, I'll tell ya...
Looking for a cobra 25 channel selector, for an early 90's model with the mic on the side. Have several of these radios with segments of display not working...installed new display on one and same segments still not working..thinking it might be the selector switch....Any ideas?? :?

I've had one for about 3 years now & love it. Easy to mod for channels...Should be a "dongle plug" which is included with packaging (unpack carefully). The plug plugs into back of display board...will give ya 24.000-32.000 coverage. RANGERUSA.COM for clarifier mod. Leave limiter in...
