Yes, I'll try the external speaker tomorrow. I didn't notice the
jack, because it's labeled "Headphones".
And yes, I'm quite happy it was only the two diodes!
Ok, looking at this:
http://www.cbtricks.com/radios/siltronix/model_1011d/graphics/siltronix_1011d_om_sch.jpg
The...
Update:
Thanks be to God that it was only the 2 diodes!
I saw a website about re-winding a transformer. It doesn't
look like fun!
Ok, another question: How do I damp all the rattling that
the speaker does? Do most people use like some sort of foam
rubber to damp...
You are correct. I was wondering why the fuse didn't
blow myself. Although the fuse is rather large: 35A, 32V.
Is that the correct rating? It looks like an automotive fuse.
Turns out, 2 of the 1N4005 diodes shorted out. One
of them is even split in half! Much better than the...
TRAGEDY HAS STRUCK!
I was listening to the CB band, and while this guy was
talking, all of the sudden, the S-meter went dead. Initially,
I just thought his signal went out, but then I noticed all the
smoke coming from the big transformer! damn!
I wasn't even transmitting at all...
Yes I do. Thanks for reminding me!
I take it in general, there is less metal to be found in
most attics? Have you noticed less detuning
when you have moved to your attic?
The only thing is, I won't be able to slope it
as much as I would like to up there....the dipole
will...
Update:
I tuned up a dipole in my kitchen. Used a piece of
plastic from a tea container, SO-239 in the middle, PVC
insulators at the ends. Tuned up fine (about 1.2:1), with the
dipole horizontal.
Then I move it to my staircase, so that the antenna
is at least sloping a...
Ok, at a mid frequency of 27.705MHz, the reflecting element
is about 18 feet, according to the link you sent. I just don't have
the space for that, or I really don't want to try to put it on my
landlord's sloping roof!
I'm probably gonna go with a simple sloping dipole, but yeah,
I...
Ok, like this one:
The Ultimate Guide to 11 Meter CB Antennas
But it's huge. I don't have room for it, nor do I really want
to build it.
I might just do a simple sloping dipole.....
Ok, Update:
I bought all of the following for $100:
1) Siltronix 1011D
2) FS-600A Watt meter
3) SP-1011 speaker
4) FD-1011 frequency counter
5) CM17S Microphone
6) 4 CX-3 coax antenna selectors.
n0nza said that he would find me the mod for
this, so I can use it in the...
Update:
Sorry for the confusion, I mixed up this thread with
my other Yaesu thread!
But I just got a call from the seller, and he wishes to
sell the following:
1) Siltronix 1011D (no microphone, but cheap and easy to get, right?)
2) FS-600A Watt meter
3) SP-1011 speaker
4)...
Thanks much. No rush of course, take your time, as
I haven't yet purchased the rig yet. The seller told me
they would call today, but nothing.
Your health is the most important priority naturally.
Yes, the unit apparently has this guy:
Siltronix FD-1011 Frequency Counter Display Manual
Not just the FT-707 and FD-1011, but also the FC707, FP707, and
the SP1011 speaker.
I supposed I should buy the whole thing, and not just parts.....
If it's all in good working...
Wow, no response!
Everyone does only tubes here? lol!
Ok, it's possible:
Yaesu ft-707 mod. 11 metros sw 10A 27.390mhz a 28.550mhz (-600khz all bands) - YouTube
But my spanish sucks, and I don't believe he said which crystals he replaced.
I don't have the unit, I'm considering buying it.
Ok, I believe I was mistaken. It's transmitting on the CB channels that is an easy soldering of ONE wire, if I'm not mistaken.
The mod to transmit and receive on the 27.415 to 27.995 MHz "freeband" channels will likely involve de-tuning...
I've read online that the mod to transmit on the 27.415 to 27.995 MHz
"freeband" is an easy soldering of ONE wire! True?
I've also read some bad things about these in terms of frequency drift....
And I should be able to use any stock 13.8V
power supply, instead of the FP707, right? What
is the amp rating of the FP707?
Also, can the FT-707 be modified for use in the
freeband 27.415 to 27.995 MHz?
Thanks in advance....
