    astatic d104 feedback/hum

If the other mics arent doing the hum/click then it is quite likely that the cord is receiving some stray RF. He does not hear these clicks in his receive does he? Yeah, some Ferrites may work but you are always better off eliminating the problem then putting a band-aid on it.

    striker 955?

Personally I use a RCI 2950 for a similar setup as you are referring to, but you would have to live without the computer programming. Maybe you should consider the CRE 8900 or one of its many clones.

Desperetly need someone to fix my radio

What kind of radio is it? I'm too far away from you (WV) to check it out but the more descriptive you are the more people here might be able to help.

    Broken Mic Repair

I have fixed plenty of those mics. 99% of the newer (thin cord) models break right where the cord goes into the mic.

    WOW I MEAN REALLY?!!

Nostalgia plays a major role. My father wants a one because thats what he had back in the 70's and it worked great for him. I would gladly buy him whatever he wanted, but the prices being asked are insane.

    SWR?

Thats the problem. Not enough DK to allow the meter to read anything to adjust to. Never understood the need for a 1/4 watt carrier :headbang Remove the swing kit and it will magically get better.

    New Magnum 257HP

The last one that was brought to me to convert/tune,(1 month ago) had no jumper pins in it for the easy conversion. Had to use the solder side of the board. They looked to be snipped off? I cant say whether this was done at the factory or at Coppers, but the box did appear to be unopened. Now...

meter suggestion for low budget truck driver that likes to tinker at home

Nothing wrong with Dosy, Astatic, etc. meters. The "Libra" line of Dosy's seem to be less expensive that the other models but its all in what you prefer.

    Amp or Export?

Simple answer is export, but... I'm pretty sure most of us fall in the class of "Its never enough". Buy a 60 watt radio and you will end up eventually buying an amp to put behind it anyway. 95% of us are guilty of that. CB does stand for "Constantly Buying" after all.

    variable amps

No. Even the average HD (High Drive) 2 pill amp only tolerates a 5w DK and swinging 50. I am not aware of a 2 pill that will handle the rfx75's input. Someone will correct me if I am wrong.

    variable amps

Yes, generally speaking you would want to adjust your dead key to 1/4 the max output of the amp.

    RFX-150; anyone seen this before?

I knew it was on its way, and is rumored to be a much simpler installation than a rfx-75.

    youtube. MAH00002 GALAXY 979 REVIEW

I had this come across the bench a few months back. A 979 with a 1446 final "truckstop rigged" in there. It worked but the biasing was non-existant of course. This is not my work lol, but I did get it "to work". AM was about 80 watts PEP.

    opinions needed!!

I have had success with both the RFX and the dual final setup. The key to the RFX is remember it says "75". Pushing it past that is possible but generates an enormous amount of heat. Robb is correct that you need a heatsink on those finals. I got a few off fleabay for pretty cheap. 8 bucks I...

    over volting

Hahaha, love that reply Robb! Your question is kinda vague so you get a vague answer. Depends on what kind of radio it is, as circuitry designs are different. Cutting to the short and skinny answer.... find an appropriate nickname for the radio, like "Ole' Smokey" or "Cheech & Chong". (Up in...
