funny isnt it...im waiting for an unedited youtube video for confirmation. honestly though...i drove over 6 hours yesterday and never gave the beep a thought....i did play w/ the buttons more than usual and really never thought much about the beep....to say the least it did NOT get on my nerves...

i hope the spec's on that wireless mic are wrong...12 hour battery life ?? i often make 20hr runs (houston to virginia)....id need FOUR sets of batteries for a round trip !

i wasnt aware that was out yet....not sure it is (since its sold out & this is the 1st pic ive seen of it). it will be interesting to see what they do w/ the existing plug....will it be a short adapter (wire-less of course)....like a dummie load ? im definitely dumping the mic that came...

so did i ! BUT...having completed the install of my own 980ssb and having just played around with it a tiny bit, the beep really isnt as annoying as i thought it would be....dont get me wrong, 1st chance i get to ELIMINATE it, it's gone...but im not gonna blindly start plugging crap off the pcb...

thanks ! unfortunately the previous owner ran some screws thru the mounting plate that i had to trip for the 980/hole....the only thing i had handy was some automotive carpet (glued above the radio) to cover the holes. ill re-cover w/ some suede later. im a nut when i comes to wires on...

got my 980ssb installed in the coach...really nice radio, ive only played w/ it a little, and dont find the beep as annoying and i thought i would.

looks like ther might be a possible beep fix <here>

newbie here - im on the fence about buying the 980....but i HATE that beep...ive read the thread here & learned that the beep is thru the speaker, but i have a question... does the beep ALSO occur or pass thru if your using an EXTERNAL speaker ?? my guess is that it probably does but...
