I have absolutely no complaints with mine it flat works. I do think its one of the very best antennas I have ever had in the air. (DX and Local)

@CbRadiosPRONTO as the picture on how to bypass the driver and the schematic for the KL-503 posted by @KD2GOE are no longer available in linked thread, do you happen to remember how you did it and maybe a few pictures?
Again the picture?
In the directions you say just cut the driver out, and cut c30 and r26.
Don't you have to jumper where the driver was to allow the rf signal to continue to flow to the next stage of the amp? what pin to what pin needs a jumper?
Thank you @nomadradio (y)
I had read through so much printed unsearchable data o_O I had given up.
Your post reminded me look at the FV-101B VFO manual.
Bingo!:D
Now to find the right crystals?

@Radio Tech
Don't you need a 101(early) and a 101(late)? And don't forget the twins. FL-101 and FR-101 to make a complete set?
It's great to hear there are others that still love the 101.

Tib
Thank you @2RT307
After seeing the butchery that was done to about 15 rigs I have looked at, Just so they could be ran on 11 meters AM. I was pulling my hair out. and the The swing mods...
ALSO: a little know fact yes you can still buy the am filter crystal for this rig new...
I have just acquired a few FT-101's and have now read everything I could find on them short of the foxtango news letters.
In coming across this thread I found the need to farther explain some of the information given here as answers.
If your 101 is from outside the USA it might of in fact...
I have just acquired 2 FT-101’s I am in the process of going through them to return them to service.
In the original 101 early way under SN 25.000 there are 4 fixed channel crystal sockets on the top of the VFO inside the top cover, only 2 are wired.
In the late model 101E there are...
@Rok55
Here is how that page looks on my computer...
I do use "Ad Block Plus"
here is the full article:
For the most part, Dx-ing is the greatest attraction to the 11-Meter operator. Having communications or a QSO with another station in some far away corner of the globe, is for many, a...
I just ran across this:
ELEVEN METER FREEBAND RADIO
What is often called "Freeband Radio", is the illegal transmissions outside of the legal CB channels. For anyone who is interested in communicating with others throughout the world, this is a great attraction, but be warned. If you do...
Sorry I missed this....
For some applications I think it will be fine.
In my case there is only 4' of top rail from the support to the bottom hoop of the AP.
NOTE: this drawing was made for the original 20' mast the top rail installed was 21' so everything moved up 1 foot.

This was the only informative and intelligent explanation of what freebanding is that I could find when I googled it several months ago.
"Freebanding" is the act of operating HF equipment illegally on an 11-meter frequency, usually in SSB, and primarily in or slightly above the Citizen's Band...
Watching:
I was into CB real heavy all of the 70's and most of the 80's, then life got busy with wife and kids. Worked (Played) at getting a ham ticket about 2000, and life got busy again. Just got back into radio and like @Riverman71 I see the term free-banding all the time. In looking it up I...
The reason it took so long to get it in the air was, I was waiting for a pre-ordered 20 foot piece of 1.5" mast... It never came. I settled 2 10.5 foot 1.3" fence toprail...
The 93.375 circumference measurement I gave was because the hoop is not really round. The clamps in the middle and the down tubes made it impossible for me to get a 100% accurate diameter.
And to be honest this morning I just assembled it and put it in the air. The only measurement I made was...
