It's mainly because the C.B. band is another radio service. I have an Extra ham ticket and use about every radio service legally available to citizens simply because it's there. I see it as a radio service and not a club. Just my thought. :)
I remember back in the early 90s when I first got my Novice, 10m was open to every part of the world and then some? :) It was unbelievable! Sometimes I'd be up at 3am listening to signals from the African continent. Great memories!
Yes, They do seem like good radios! I like this one enough to buy another model with SSB. These things are just built well compared to new radios. Besides, I dislike throwing away anything that may be repaired. Good Luck with your roadtalker 40 too. :) 73.
