    Low band noise floor

HomerBB, Two antennas I use are a 40m & 80m DB made by IAC or a well built G5RV built by HF antennas that can be brought on ebay the 102' one is the best one. Reason both have a great signal to noise ratio an a lot of gain, so you can drop the RF gain back and still hear the weak signals well...

    Zero-Five 24 Foot Vertical

Time has passed, still using the resonant 43' vertical, all is well with it, I said Barn Burner on 160m back in 2011, in my post, i know now that was an over statement when it comes to 160m antennas, a good inverted Ell higher could work better but not from what antennas I have used here on 160m...

    Galaxy 94 HP Problems....

Have had 2 94HP over the last 5 years and lots of Galaxy radio, one of the 94HPs I brought from him, I also had a problem with it sent if back to Sparky and he repaired the radio and sent it back to me, it worked for a while again but the problem reappeared again. I sent it to Galaxy repair the...

New MFJ 1.5KW 80/160M high-efficiency Matching Network for 43’ verticals!

43' Vertical Here is what I did for the last 2 years on my 43' vertical, I added a screwdriver mobile antenna in series with the feed line coax to the 43' vertical. It works 10-160m with a SWR on 1.2 to 1 or less. works great 5-1000+ watts, talks an hear well, have the 43' vertical mounted...

A99, HIgh SWR, and just lack luster performance and how I fixed it...

BM, This is something I do, use the vent pipes on my house which are PVC have when putting a A99 or a IMAX up and make a choke out of coax excess coax I may have, have had good results do so!..........KB6HRT

A99, HIgh SWR, and just lack luster performance and how I fixed it...

A99/ SWR mr_FX I like your style, you took an A99 with a blown matching cap in it an made the antenna work again, your my kind of guy BRAVO an had some FUN doing it! KB6HRT:)

    I 10K ANTENNA

Tony, From what you have described sounds like a GAP Titan which I believe is a 10-80m antenna, take a look at one on the internet an see if it looks like it! Have had a lot of 11m base antennas over the past 20 year, Marconi has got into this stuff a lot deeper than I, think he has this...

adding coax lowers SWR reading on the meter?

Wavrider Sometimes if the wattage of the radio has a low carrier 1 or 2 watts you can take a piece of small wire take a couple of turns around the coax then around the FS antenna an you will see a stronger reading on the FS meter, on a HF rig it not necessary most of the time!......KB6HRT

kb6led, That is the most cost effect way, an your performance will not be compromised............KB6HRT;)

adding coax lowers SWR reading on the meter?

Needle Bender, Think about what you said, you have answered your own question.. makes thing real simple for some difficult installations. Came up with that one about 35 years ago, an has worked for me many time since...........KB6HRT

Wilson 5000 - How broad banded?

Wilson 5000 W5LZ, w5lz has made the point nicely, Back in the day had a President Pa 11m antenna that was very broudbanded that would stretch from the lower part of 10m to 26.500 an worked well, the nice thing about that antenna was the coil was next to the stinger, an was mounted on some sort...

    Zero-Five 24 Foot Vertical

Zerofive Antennas wavrider Don't know if you read my post on Zerofive 43' verticals on eham or not but you may have realized I turned the ZF 43' vertical into a resonant antenna system, before I brought the ZF 43' vertical I tried a trapped dipole that would play but it had a very narrow...

    Zero-Five 24 Foot Vertical

Zerofive Antennas wavrider Have a little more background would like to share, I was one of Bill Fanchoner customers W9INN antennas, he was an old school antenna builder, from my come from the best of the best by far. I use and have used W9INN antennas, have one custom one he built for me...

Zerofive Antennas wavrider, Thank you for some of your references on antennas, I did compare one of your references W8JI 102' G5RV with the one I built at this QTH an is in use for the last 3+ years. W8JI KB6HRT 75M 3.1 75m 1.4 40m 4.1 40m 2.3 20m 2.1 20m 2.1...

IMAX 2000 VERSES THE SOLARCON / ANTRON 99

A99/IMAX I am on board with Radioreddz 100% he did the testing as I did an the results are the same. I have found that if all antennas are about the same height an resonant on the frequency being used the results will be very close indeed, but it was fun learning it for sure! Last Wednesday...

    A99/Max2000 Poll and Discussion

A99/IMAX On 10-11-12m these antennas are hard to beat for a vertical antenna, low wind load light weight very low Standing Wave Ratio and american made, never found another vertical antenna that will work any better and cost less than these two antennas!.........KB6HRT

    Zero-Five 24 Foot Vertical

Zerofive Antennas Waverider, I am not trying to make you believe anything, that is not a goal of mine. I like to test antennas try to perfect the antennas I have to work with a little better at my QTH. I pass on information to other interested HAM's an radio operators results obtained, sound...

adding coax lowers SWR reading on the meter?

This trick has worked for me for years, using a field strength meter, putting the FS meter against the coax feeding your antenna, you will be able to find a null, cut the coax there an put a coax connector on it, the swr will be the same as what you will see at the base of the antenna, problem...

Wilson 5000 - How broad banded?

Wilson 5000 Tried different ways and made them work, always a price to be payed, now use the Wilson 5000 coil and wipe centered on 27025 for eleven meters an a Wilson 1000 coil centered on 28,550 for 10 meters, if I want to talk, I change coils an am go to go full power on each band, no loss...
