It's been awhile since I've had the radio on the bench but will try my best to provide accurate answers.
The radio was showing no output on the meter on AM with no modulation and sorry but did not check it initially on SSB. There was a damaged trace which I repaired which brought back the AM...
The radio does not have the MOSFETS. Modulation on SSB is about 40%. Since the first post I've removed the mod limiter to get about 30% modulation on AM and the 40% on SSB. I would rather not run the radio without the mod limiter if possible.
Thanks John
I have the above radio (board # EPT069610Z). Radio was at no TX at all but did get the carrier back but I'm only getting about 50% modulation at 4 watt dead key and it's swinging to about 8 watts. VR 18 (low power) has no effect on dead key and if I adjust VR 14 (high power) to over 6 watts I...
Does anyone have any experience calibrating these meters. There are 5 pots inside 4 on the left as you're looking at the front labeled RP4, RP5, RP6, and RP7 from top to bottom and there is one on the right labeled RP1. I can't seem to find the one that affects the SWR meter. Any help would be...
Homer,
For some reason I missed your reply . Thanks for the compliment and yes that is what I meant. As of right now haven't been able to work with it any further but will fool around with things and let you know.
John
Doc,
I'm sorry I was not clear. The antenna is showing physically short according to my SWR readings. I know that adding to the radiator would tune the antenna but I'm going to try messing with the tap point on the coil and the ground radial angles. Thanks for the come back.

Finally got the antenna up in the air. Had to settle for 32ft. at the feed point but that's alot better than 6ft. where's it's been for the last two weeks. Had to replace the bottom section as it snapped in the first attempt to get it up but was able to fix it and eventually got it all in place...
Thanks Rick. So far the antenna has performed alot better than expected and I'm really excited about getting it up in the air.
Homer, I picked up 40 ft. of 1 1/4 inch EMT and I'm going to try to use it all, will let you know how it goes once I get a full day to work on it and some good...
Well, for the last week or so I've been putting the antenna through it's paces and doing some tweaking and getting all weather-proofed getting ready to get it up on the house in it's final position. Here are the final results:
Radiator length: 23ft.
4 ground radials at 102" each.
SWR...
Well, the meter seems to do both, if the mic is keyed and it doesn't move you can tap the front of the meter and it will move and if you tap on the front while it's working the reading will change. I had the meter apart and hit everything with fresh solder but did not help. I ran some longer...
Not to hijack a thread but I just picked up one of these meters myself and it seems the SWR meter is a little sparratic and when it stops working you can tap on it and it will start to work again. If anyone has any suggestions along with solving skybolt's problem would be much appreciated...
Got back to working on the antenna today and got the ground radials attached and the matching circuit hooked up and results were good :thumbup1:.
Channel 1 1.4:1
Channel 20 1.3:1
Channel 40 1.2:1
Putting in about 22 watts.
Did not have to use the coax capacitor, actually results with...
Thanks for the advise and comments. I'm going to leave it where it is for a couple of days to see how it does in some weather and to get caught up on the honey do list :headbang. Working on getting the ground radials ready to attach. Will post the pogress as it goes along.

Doc, I haven't had a failure yet but I did see what Homer's did and wanted to avoid that if at all possible. All the wood is going to painted with exterior paint, should I insulate the antenna from the support or will that make any difference? The support goes up the antenna about 3' so very...
