You can use a vtvm to check for any shorts in the coax. depending on what type antenna you have. if antenna is disconnected a quick resistance check will verify if it is shorted. Next would be to check for continuity.

Op here uses his 7300 into a biased 8 transistor amp. sounds great, I am very suprised at how good the 7300 performs on AM. No mods done to the 7300 except for opening up the transmit.
