102" FIBERGLASS ANTENNA

Does anyone still sell a 102" fiberglass antenna ?? I'm looking for something like the ones made by Francis, Shakespeare, or Antenna Specialists. I'm setting up a mobile for my wife's 4x4, and want to mount a whip antenna on top of the roll bar. I've had good success with this setup before and want to stick with what I know works. I would use a steel whip, but I don't like the way they bend in the wind. However, I will use a steel whip if nothing else is available. How about it guys ??

Firestik still sells a seven foot fiberglass antenna. Not quite as long as a 102, but I think as close as is currently available for a fiberglass antenna.

The longest fiberglass antenna I've seen is the Firestick KW-7. Not sure if it is top loaded though... It can't handle a lot of power either. I think the Wilson fgt 5 foot can handle more power.

If you can go 7 feet, I would vote for a 102 ss whip.

I have one NOS Francis Amazer. It measures at 102". Bought it online about 6 months ago. Cost me a fortune to get it shipped to Colombia, but worth every peso. I'd love to find a few more.

I had two Amazers. They were stuffed in the garage attic by my dad. They were in there for many years. I thought they were 96". Hmmmm, They were brittle and unusable being stored so long. That was around 6-7 years ago.

Closest thing I could find new would probably be a Shakespeare 4208. Says it's a Loran antenna but I did see "bobs cb" selling them..

I really appreciate the info. Looks promising. They also make a model 10-3 that may work. I'm going to call Shakespeare tech support on Monday to try and get some add'l info. Thanks and 73s.

I have a Radio Shack 102" fiberglass whip that is about 20 years old. About a year ago I went looking to find an identical replacement. I had no luck at all. I wound up going with one of the Radio Shack stainless steel 102" whips.

First, 234÷27.2=103.25"

The Shakespeare 4208 is only 96" but if you add the length of a ball mount plus few more inches of a Hustler HD Quick release plus the additional electrical length from the velocity factor of the fiberglass plus a thick protective layer of self-applied rubber-coat, it should dial in reasonably close to 1:1.
I'm seeing 1.3:1 from my Imax 2000 top whip at 26.85 & 28.46 centered at 27.655, 1.15:1.

You could also add a spring, but I think they're more hassle than they're worth.

MY BAD !! I remeasured my Amazer, and it is 96" long. Guess my memory isn;t what it used to be.

I have the skipshooter and the firestik 7 foot antennas that i had experimented with out here on my apartment balcony stationary rail mount.
My dumbass forgot that i was useing 75 ohm coax for cb radio and ended up cutting the entire top load off both antennas to get a 1.1 swr and they both reallly get out there and still perform significantly better than the previous wilson 2000 trucker i was useing before.
The top loads on both antennas was about 10 inches that i cut off and even tho theyre both ruined im still useing one with the 75 ohm coax with an swr of 1.1.
