11 meter is very quiet?

Last week and again today I picked up several stations in Brasil on USB 30 and USB 26. But domestically it has been slim pickings.

Eleven meters is completely dead, but on GMRS ch20 I can hear somebody in southern Maryland. They sound like they are talking to someone in North Carolina, I don't know if they are hitting multiple repeaters or what.

I heard the Carolinas and Virginia on 38 LSB on Saturday Nov. 6 around the lunch hour Mountain time here in the southwest while doing some chores, but by the time I got on the radio mid-afternoon the band was dead.

No DX since. Only QSOs the past few days have been radio checks on the Southwest linked GMRS system.

I hear Hard Drive almost daily breaking my tight squelch open on 19, again today with his same old sanctimonious rant. For the past month he has been my alert mechanism to scan for conditions on 10 or other nearby frequencies.

Very light DX into Northern New Jersey today. Made only one contact from my mobile to unit 702 Jamaica.

Friend sent me a text message this afternoon saying Skip was coming in from West Coast.

I heard someone either identified or calling a 357 station yesterday around 1400 pacific in central Ca. Not able to make contact though.

Wasn’t me I’ve not turned radio on today.

There are lot of “357” stations on the radio. I do go by that usually talking local on AM.

When 11 meter Skip is happening I stay on SSB and go by 556 North Carolina or 2NC556.

Mexico and Puerto-Rico have been hitting Central / Upstate NY on several channels for the past two weeks. Puerto-Rico hangs-out on Channel 9, but they sometimes bleed-over a couple of channels. I'm from the "old school" and never talk on Ch. 9.
