11 meter is very quiet?

Had a nice long QSO with 338 (Kevin) Lake Wells FL yesterday late afternoon (5:30 pm) and 561 (Nick) also out of Florida. Both 9+ into my receive. Kevin on an ICOM 7300 and Nick running a Quad 6 PRO. Both still coming in strong at 6:30pm when it started storming here and I signed off for the day. I would have liked to hang in there to see how long conditions would have held up. Try again today.

JJ,

I was trying to get back to you when you were pulling the plug on your side due to storms but didn't make it. You probably had the beam pointing to Florida too. I'll catch you again around the band...

Don't feel bad I worked on my little Cobalt giving it a tune up today with amazing results. Then on my trip to the auto parts store one of our sagging tree limbs I didn't spot in time took my Sirio 5000 Performer off the roof of my car with a crash, bang, boom. I pulled over and the magnetic base is toast and the stinger is bent really bad. I'll see if I can straighten the stinger before I spend money on a new base. This hobby can get expensive. LOL

Sing it, I tried today and heard nothing.

We got a pretty good earth directed solar flare that's killing our already scarce conditions.

We should just go ahead and call it until the fall.
I believe you may be right about that. We were in the triple digits for a few days last week, so the timing seems about right. It looks like the big "wait for fall" is on. LOL...

Yes Sir, that sucks! Sorry to hear this.
And the hobby isn't going to get any cheaper!

Yeah and I really enjoyed the fold down of that antenna. But I have other antennas to take it's place for now and like said I'm about ready to give this hobby a break until fall. I have to make hay while the sun shines like they say and no sense in barking at the moon ! I did look at Walmart for the base but of coarse they are out of stock. I have to get some tariff vaseoline ! LOL

I'm hearing exactly one guy on 38 and it's a well known Los Angeles station who's talking to someone I can't hear about the 10,000 watt rig he's running. He's coming in here at 2 to 3 S units, and he's the only one I've heard all day. I guess when you've got 10,000 watts you make your own conditions LOL!

Buenos Dias, Amigos -

I guess this time of year, earth's northern hemisphere is the most sun-facing and suffering the most effects of the solar flares. Here, we are technically in the northern hemi ( 200 mi N of the equator). But this morning DX is strong from the Eastern US, and the Mid and Western states will (hopefully) join in as the sun moves across the country. Propagtion sites show little (if any) East to West US hookups right now.. Maybe better later today. Still a good opportunity to hook up with us down South.

I will be hitting 37LSB at 10 this morning. Listen for me as it's a good chance for a North-South connection.
