11 meter is very quiet?

shut swr meter off.6666 meters are scrwey. and leave antenna alone.its at the point trim a 1/16" n it might go up elsewhere.
i traded my 6666 off never got a liking for it
Your probably right and believe me those thoughts go thru my head. I have seen times when you regret trying to Super Tune things. LOL Them inner thoughts and feeling can be like a old Nag Nag Nag ! LOL

I'm getting used to my Quad6Pro. At first, the receive sucked (noisy, 3-5 S units). But after cranking down the RF Gain a tad, and installing ferrite cores on every electrical/coax cord in my station, The noise is gone.

I loved my trusty 139XLR, but the Q6PRO has so many more features and more wattage. Most of all, I get 100% excellent feedback from my contacts.

I hooked up an external "RF" meter, a digital audio spectrum display, and an SDR waterfall display. I only need to find the AGC output on the board to get my external "S" meter online. I switched from the stock hand mike to a different dynamic hand mike that responds better to my voice. Trying to make it a poor man's ICOM 7300

If only the controls weren't so damn small I'd be a total happy camper.

EDIT:
I completely tore down my station yesterday to rearrange things and clean up the wiring mess. Hopefully back on the air by the weekend

You got that right & the coax connection on the back really stinks and I'm always mumbling bad things when I'm changing the connection. They sure didn't create a masterpiece with that radio and if you have big fingers you can be changing more than 1 thing when you fool around with the knobs. The test of time is yet to be seen !

Some time you have to laugh ! Yesterday the solar site said conditions would be good and I could hardly catch any on or make any contacts but today was suppose to be fair and I banged out Pensacola FL. first thing in my Cobalt. And later on the way to Walmart 37-39 lsb was hopping but couldn't make contacts. LOL Ya gotta take it with a gain of salt and like Charlie Rich said in one of his songs, Just Rolling with the Flow !

when limb broke coupler on my sirro 2008 i didnt get it fully extended. made a jib pole and put pully on it. hand comealong pulled the needed 10 feet up to where its 35 ft to base of antenna, swr flat very flat on 11 meters 10 and 12 it rises to 1:2 to1 to 1:3 to 1. anyhow heard stout voices.waited n got a break.i had 857 in south carolina said i was hitting him hard nice crisp clear modulation STRONG signal. we too a stand by and us marshal in north carolina said same about my station. then it dropped out. but the saying height
is might is true. since antenna was at 25 ft it just didnt get out now its kickin azz n writin down names.
thats radioing

Well the solar index lied for my area but the trip wasn't a lost cause totally. I re hooked my Q 6 Pro to my K 40 antenna to try it out and found No More High SWR call out when I keyed the mic because of the almost Flat Line SWR on the K 40. I did notice a SWR call out on the radio in SSB of Channel 1 of 1.1 Channel 20 of 1.2 and Channel 40 of 1.3 Makes me wonder if I should shorten the antenna just a tiny bit to satisfy the meter in the Q 6 Pro when it is in SSB Mode. I'm open for suggestions. I know some would say leave it alone but I'm the kind of guy that tries to wring out every last drop out of my system because there is too many things I have no control over in this environment and feel Why fight 5 Factors when I can only fight 4. Yeah I know I'm Crazy ! LOL
If it ain't broke, don't fix it! You could shorten it but I wouldn't even bother because that's plenty good!

But my preference would be to have the 1.1 at the high end of the 11 meter band and the 1.3 at the low end of the band because I don't waste time at the low end of the band because that is where the Stupid bowl is at. ( Channel 6 ) And with all the Hills, Trees, & Valleys where I live I try to maximize my output all I can. But a man does get tired of Shining Shit ! One of my neighbors who moved away use to be into talking DX years ago and one time said he was surprised I even bother in this valley. But I do get out of here just not as well as others. Guess I'm a stubborn Old Fart. LOL

dont as k how he did it but a guy down on table rock lake bought a property in a revene thats very narrow. a sight unseen buy. but set up a tall rohn tower . went up sides of the revene and placed sheets of reflective metal and worked till he was getting out .he secured the reflectors. has it set to his roter positions. we talk now n then. but he was a military radio guy so i suppose he learned from uncle sam.
i was at his place 1 time and the reflecters suprize me how they work. he owns the full revene. i asked why not put up tower behind your house at top of revene ? he said winds never happen ,its usually a slow breeze at best

A lot of areas has it's share of specialty problems and mine is worse on the north east side the railroad over a hundred years ago made a artificial mountain to make a shortcut for their railroad line. That is what interferes with me on the N/E side because I'm up against it. My next door neighbor who is about 100 yards down the side hill from me has a tall garage that if I could have my antenna on that building it would open up this valley better for me, but it is what it is. At least I'm not in a flood prone area and don't get winds like the top of the hill. I have to count my blessings!

I've got a good location near the top of a mountain (5600 Ft.) I have a clear shot in all directions except South, where the actual mountain top is (about 40 meters higher). So talking to stations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, etc., isn't happening for me. It's better since I got my tower. But it is what it is.

It's funny you talk about your friend and his reflectors because that is something I have thought of trying for my blister pack GMRS radios to try to explore that realm of GMRS radio. I was setting at my desk one night and can't remember why but I turned on my blister pack and in come rolling a business like conversation that didn't sound like local yokels and then it was gone and there is no real businesses around. I inquired about a reflector in a GMRS forum and got no where. But like you say I bet someone has had some exotic training in pulling in signals. Me I wouldn't know where to start. Right now I don't want to bite off more than I can chew !
