Remembering those who faced the dreadful terrorist attacks.
My Prayers still remain for those who lost a loved one or are still looking for one of there own.

What i have to say may offend others, but fuck terrorism and those who support it.

I remember that day very well....

I had just gotten to the job site and started to roll out hoses and other items I needed for that day..My boss called the building owner who came out and got my off the roof.My boss told me to roll up and come back to the office/his house,he would not tell me what was happening till we got back to his place.it was at that time I found out what had happened.....as we were heading home we tried to stop for gas and every station that we passed there were cars that were lined up around the block waiting to get gas.....

That day still rings very loud in my mind...and always will.......

I have always heard that if we do not take the time to keep things like this fresh in our minds by talking /posting about them,we will soon forget and something like this could very well happen again....I for one will not allow what happened on 9/11 fall to the back of our collective minds.....like it or not....I will NOT forget nor will I remain silent

I remember it well too. I was at work packing my gear for a course work was sending me on in BC when everything came to a grinding halt. Re-pack bugout kit, draw ammo / personal weapon from stores, check NBC gear and stood by ready to split where needed. Just to be stood down the next day. It was surreal driving across the praires and not seeing 1 plane in the sky.

It really was surreal. I live under the main east-west air corridor for flights from Halifax International and beyond and you can see at least one plane in the sky at any time and usually two or three whenever you look up. For three days there was nothing. At all. Weird. Halifax Intl. was backed up with over 50 aircraft parked on the tarmac as seen below.

I remember all the sonic booms that week. I lived and grew up next to an air force base. Sonic booms were very rare and LOUDLY complained about. But that week it seemed every jet that took off went supersonic right away. Nobody complained about the booms.

Same here I was pretty mad and all of us couldn't do a damn thing but watch, I was getting ready for for class (9th grade) at that time (PST).

A Day i Will NEVER Forget.

To Start..I was able to see the towers from my kitchen window.
Although i am in nj i am simply across the river maybe 3/4 air miles away.

I remember this Extremely ODD and Nearly Painful feeling in the pit of my stomach..On the Sunday before...
I had rushed over to try and get to the towers..i had planned to get on the observation deck and with my high power binoculars watch and take pictures of this huge Ocean Going Speed boat race.

I remember how mad i was and disappointed i arrived too late to make it ot the ny side..
So instead i chose to remain on the NJ side...and spent the couple hours of the race..using the towers themselves to line up and take pictures of the boats i so wanted to take pictures of.

yet i stopped ad looked around..this Pit in my stomach...
A day so erie and i was unable to shake the feeling of something was wrong....so nice a day..

Well i Ignored it...went about watching the race..snapping all these pictures..

Usually i had Tuesdays and Sundays off from work.
I had been for months on tuesdays taking the ferry or path train over in order to hang out at the towers often going to the observation deck..
Always getting brunch at a particular eatery by the path station at the bottom of the towers.

However that tuesday..
I was asked to cover for another at work.
Also asked to help a friend with a delivery.

so instead of going in to the towers..i slept in late..got up at 10 am.
went to my cousin next door to help with the delivery.

He asked what i thought..
Thought of what i asked.
The towers...didnt you hear..
Hear what...
He told me go watch the news.

HOLY CRAP !!

another oddity..

My father was supposed to be at the towers for a meeting (un related to my going there ) we were going to try to meet up for lunch or something...Yet for some unknown reason my father also was unable to make it in to the towers.

Ok so Now the twers were Unfortunately gone/destroyed..
I was off on Sunday...
The country was in Morbid Shock ( can you blame them ? ).

So i decide to go down to ground zero...
I bring a camcorder and digital camera..

Marines all over the place..
Road blocks everywhere.
Fort Knox was easier to break into then getting near ground zero.

I walked round and round..trying to get closer then the 1/4 to 1/2 mile road blocks.
Nothing worked...

When i was like...Humm..

i went up to the main area..marines checking EVERYONE..

so i walk up..look from 5 ft away from road block..turn to walk away..Instead..i walk backwards through/past the check point.

Doing Exactly the same on 3 more such road blocks..

Now i was 20/30 ft from ground Zero..
HOLLY CRAP..

That is what a War Zone looks like..
I took countless pics and video..

Streets...building walls...covered in debree..

I slowly made my way past again the check points like i was leaving on my own (looking like i belonged there i gues..my 3 HT's clamoring away on NYPD channels.

I got past all the check points..
and was like..semi light headed...feeling like in a state of.
Is this Really REAL?

All those Iconic pics you saw of the Debree...
I Got all the pictures of that and Far more..
I think i spent a couple of hours walking around in Semi Shock..
That was how Sur-Real it all was..

Fast forward about a month..
Manhattan is locked down like crazy..
Marines EVERYWHERE with M16's locked and loaded waiting to fire at whomever..

I was coming of of the path train station..Maybe some 150 people behind me in rush hour .. all trying to run the 1/8 mile to the street from the train station..

So i too was Literally in a semi run..
( i did not want to be trampled to death)
I come to the street fly up 4/5 stairs and ..
WHAM i i huge Marine to the pavement...Having basically Just TACKLED him.

I was like...WHOLY SHIT..
this marine was with another ( all were in teams of 2)...
I Instatly Stoped all these People behind me from Trampling me and this marine...
Reaching down to pick him up...

I said..Dude a really bad place to stand...are you OK.
The guy never know what hit him...
He must have thought he was hit by a freight train..
His partner had turned GHOST White (he was african american)

Well all wound up ok...No one hurt...

However manhattan was on lock down for ages..
Still even today..

I decided to go to ground zero and see what was going on.
Lately though (last 10/11 months) i am on this huge walking everywhere kick..Since April i have been walking 14-20 miles a day (every day and so far have lost 142 lbs)

But figured i will up the ante today and basically walk into manhattan from nj
( i walked from nj to ny via staten island and took staten island ferry to lower manhattan)

Wouldn't you know...
All ferries going to manhattan..were under escort (each one mind you ) by 1 NYPD Police boat and 2 (one on each side) coast guard boat (those small fiberglass boats with the outer pontoons of air) where was to people per coast guard boat..one riding in bow with a Locked and Loaded 50 cal full auto M60 machine gun..

In manhattan itself...
if i saw 1 cop..i saw easily 400 cops..
were so many cops...so many road blocks..
I could not even get to the ceremonies going on.
(so i basically walked in total 36-38 miles over 12 hours to see lower manhattan on lock down....lol...but i took many good pics at least)

Anyways...
How can i Ever Forget that day 11 years Ago..
It is FOREVER Embedded in my head.

If i live to be 150..and drolling in my old age and unable to see or hear well...unable to stand or walk..I still will remember that day 11 years ago..

The Day that changed our country and changed the World !!

Go Right Ahead..

A Strong Post..
Yet Nowhere as Strong a day of Events.

I can Only in Part convey mine
( and what so many others think/feel of the day)

I was on strike at the time and was doing the midnight shift on the line.

I woke up and was flipping thru the channels and came across CNN a few minutes after the first plane hit. No one was sure what was going on at the time, they originally thought maybe a small craft. Then out of no where the other plane came in....i'm as speechless today in trying to explain what i saw as the reporters on tv were then. There's not a week goes by that i don't think about what i saw that morning...and even sitting here writing about it i can't help but get choked up.

May the victims rest quietly and their loved ones find peace.
