I was there listening But only heard KZ4RR faintly, intermittently, down in the mud. I could hear a word or two from some place but not enough to entice me to jump in this morning. I'll keep trying to hear some each morning.

That's a great bunch of guys on that list & some are BIG DAWGS on The Magic Band. I live about 40 miles or so from LEE-kZ4RR & of all things we originally met in person at Hamvention in 2013. We traveled a long way to actually meet each other. LOL I don't plan to attend Hamvention again, but it was a great trip for a one & done for me. Not even sure if I'm going to Hamcation this year & I've been going there every year since 1993. Not looking for anything so I will save my Cash for when I find something I can't live without or getting my ROHN FK-25, Mosley TA-53M (10-40), M26M5X, & a couple of other antennas up & stop depending on my HI-PAR SATURN Loop at 20' & an R5 Vertical at 25'. 6 meters can be a Blast but lately it's been pretty Flat.

I don't mean when it's open. I mean working locals. Used to be very popular on AM. Of course, that's before all the man-made noise now. When I started in the 70's, 6 meters was the band of choice for local rags.
Agreed. I have a dozen+ locals within 50mi. of me and they rarely get on. Worked a new local SSB just this afternoon, said he hadn't been on for quite awhile, was glad I returned his call and we'd talk more soon. We'll see.......

There is an AM net near me every Thursday evening but I can only hear one station on the net and it's not the net boss. I suspect they're all on vertical antennas. I'm not.

I know it's off topic,
but I miss 2 meter SSB, I used to have a blast there about half a lifetime ago.....

I had a big 2 meter beam one time. I worked midnights then. I lived in Southeast Ohio, when I came come from work, I'd talk to guys from Pennsylvania to Saint Louis. It was a blast in the summer with tropo. I can't remember the guys call, but he lived in Pennsylvania. I think he was very well known and had a big station on a high elevation. That dude had a booming signal. I made countless CW/SS contacts on my old Kenwood TR-751A and 706. What a blast.

People don't know what they're missing not being on 2 meter SSB. My late Wife's Cousin still has that old beam. I gave it to him when he got his license . Still sitting in his garage. I had a couple quad antennas that work very well, too. All I have now is a little vertical base antenna , but hardly use it. After my Wife passed, haven't been on much.
