I replaced the McKinley with a new George, the noise reduction on the RX works wonders. I am not using the noise reduction on TX, but I am using the noise gate. I wish someone would come up with the NPC mod for this, I am giving the little 203 a workout with the 4w carrier. I can turn the power down, but it drops the peak too.
Might end up with a new Washington. With 80 watts, I wouldn't need the 203. Upper channels would be nice too.

I just got my new QT60Pro and replaced the 6666 with it. The noise reduction on these new radios is a game changer for sure.
Unfortunately the short radio is still too long. The knobs stuck up about 1/2 inch above the rim. Some shorter knobs might work, but I chose to use a heat sink from an Ares 2 that got an RFX95.
I fixed up an old Texas Star 400 to use portable at my mother-in-laws house. The HP power supply works great, and I put magnets on them so I can just stick them in place.
Tucked in under the chips and cookies...

Wow !! A lot of radio for 95 bucks (Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Radioddity-CB-900-PRO-Reduction-Emergency/dp/B0D878YRK1?tag=worradfor-20 ). Tons of USEFUL features. even a freq readout on the meter. Worthless channel 9 switch, but then they had to put something on it for us to complain about. LOL. Amazing how they can cram so much on a board so small.

Oh, no! It will never be the same. (Let's hope not...)
To the right of the ribbon cable is the volume/ squelch pot. Does the radio power go through the ribbon cable? It's the only connection to the board.
Heck yeah that's pretty cool. They really should have been born that way, imo.
