Another from Ranger RCI-X9

How is it going to compete with the Stryker 955? Wow, I would not have guessed it would be that high.

Excellent point - not sure that price is what the actual price will be elsewhere but you're right about trying to compete with the 955 which has more features.

Once we talk 400+ I start thinking I can buy a nice used HF radio for that much.

I can appreciate the simplicity of using it compared to menus and other functions a driver may never use in a truck. That's from a drivers perspective anyway. Just wish we could see what's inside.

Something else noticeable that could hurt (again drivers perspective) is the fans being on the bottom and how that could be hindered in the radio console in the newer trucks.

But that price.......

Heat in the overhead is significant.
No insulation. Summer time it’s an oven.

Why I drilled thru missing curtain track at plugged holes to mount (so far, ha!) three (3) different sizes of radios below overhead (removed center sun visor; dash cam hides it from view at front).

The 203 WILL fit back inside past radio (leave it turned on). I’ve run it that way for months on end. I think it’s okay.

But a hot running $400 radio would worry me.

Someone might say they’d rig a pair of fans. Intake & Exhaust.

Really? 115F hot air into the cab and you’re already down to shorts, tee shirt and 20-lbs iced drinks?

I think not.
