Not really a mod, but a question.
I think this is an ALC issue, but not really sure.
In the lower part of the 10M phone band -- 28.300-400 for example, the radio will only put out around 15 watts peak. Yes this is using a peak reading watt meter and also a scope. Also the TX audio is very compressed.

As I go up the band towards 29 Mhz, the power increases and the audio "opens up".
This is happening on the amplitude modes. FM seems unaffected. SWR remains constant. All this testing was done into a dummy load. I've looked at the service manual and can't really find anything conclusive. I'm a pretty technically savvy guy...but still no dice.
Any suggestions or possible solutions would be appreciated.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
