Anytone at-5555 PLUS

The AT-5555Plus is a great transceiver with beautiful audio and good receive but has a tremendous lack of noise reduction. I'm sure you have heard me state I have as much as 5 to 7 s-units of noise and this is why. If they indeed have produced the same radio with a good noise blanking or reduction system it would be phenomenal and the "N" version is supposed to be this. ✌✌
The Anytone at-5555+ is a dam fine transceiver indeed and possibly the absolute best modern 10 meter transceiver over all other brands and models.
I still have other anytone radios in my shack one is the at-6666 and the ARES II and both are also dam fine transceivers as well but I still favor the at-5555 plus the most because of how it looks when it's powered on and in full operation.
Kinda sorta reminds me of an old favorite of mine that was the Galaxy Pluto that i lost in a house fire back in 2010.
Back in those days I had never seen nor heard of the name Anytone or Radioddity after 30+ years of participating in the radio hobbie while living deep in the Appalachian mountains of Kentucky.

I Bought a hs4 and overall happy with it. I am a 5555n2 fan and owner along with a og 6666 and the 6666 pro. I have to say as great as the anytones are imo, i vibe more to the control layout of the hs4 over the n2's and 6666s. User pref i guess :)
Anytone will be the new household name in radio transceivers like Cobra and Uniden or president use to be back in the good ole days when Ronald Reagan was president.

Ever since the last time I participated in this forum I never got a chance to perform the npc mod on the quad 5 plus due to a trade offer I couldn't refuse where I made good proffitt tho I did perform the npc mod on a president Ronald I still have and the mod really brings those little radios to life.
I missed the quad five I traded so just a few hours earlier I went ahead and purchased a new quad 5 plus from Anderson Radio Supply so it should be delivered here by Monday hopefully and as soon as it arrives I'll be perform the npc mod right away so I can give the radio it's permanent place on my radio desk that has had an empty bare spot far to long where a quad 5 plus is supposed to be mounted on my radio desk.
The last quad 5 I had was traded to a almost brand new Texas star/killer bee 250 amplifier that I still have and use daily and so far I haven't felt like I made a bad trade to a friend of mine who begged me for a week to either sell or trade to him the radio.
He could have purchased a brand new quad 5 from many various online retailers but he wants to be weird about buying anything from the internet, the idea of it just does not set right with him in his exact words yet his reasons for such behavior is unknown to me.
What is the benefit / advantage of the NPC modification?

What does it do on AM?
It's supposed to increase average power. It's open to debate whether it's worth the effort. It may increase average power but it also increases intermod distortion which can be detrimental to audio clarity.

I only run SSB and FM, but even if I did run AM I probably wouldn't do an NPC mod as I like my audio as clean as possible.

Wow! Very interesting and complicated. Bottom line is, when you have all the required test equipment and professional knowledge to do the work correctly, the plan will come together.
Can't install a four-barrel carburetor and manifold on an engine having a two-barrel carburetor and manifold without doing a whole bunch of modifications and adjustments.

There is a couple guys here that run npc or asymmetrical modulation type mods, and if properly set up and monitored can produce some nice audio without becoming nasty.
For a long time commercial radio stations have boosted positive peak modulation while holding negative peaks below 100%.
It often gets a bad rap when a radio gets set up properly and then the user cranks every control to 10 to make his wattmeter happy......

You never did mention the type of diode that you used shown in the picture there's no way of telling if this diode is a 1N4148 or whatever it is we kinda need to know please.
The band is worn off this diode but it is oriented banded end down and on the left, also I have settled on a 500 ohm resistor.

Before starting you must have the radio hooked to a dummy load or antenna. Also get a pen and paper and WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING!!! DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP even if you don't plan on changing anything. Scroll through each menu item and view the data and WRITE IT DOWN!!! Make a spread sheet of the menu item and parameters.

Service menu is accessed by starting with the radio in the off state, press and hold function key and continue to hold while powering on the radio, continue to hold the function key then press the other keys on the top row one at a time and in order then release function key.

Menu items are scrolled with the channel selector. You can view the data of selected menu item by keying the mic. You change data by keying the mic and using the channel selector. Once things are set how you want power cycle the radio.

FM high power is menu 8

FM low power is menu 9

FM modulation is menu 11

AM high power is menu 15

AM low power is menu 16

AM low power modulation is menu 18

AM high power modulation is menu 19

SSB high power limiter is menu 21

SSB low power limiter is menu 22

SSB low power is menu 25

SSB high power is menu 26

Those are the main ones that most ppl can set themselves.

On the AM modulation adjustments smaller values equals more modulation(Less AMC clamping).

Like I said before WRITE EVERY SINGLE PARAMETER DOWN, ALL 53 OF THEM!!!

Don't break you radios! I'm not liabparameterle! These are alignment settings, resting the radio will have no effect on these!

Kannst du mir alle 53 Parameter für die AT 5555 N plus senden.
Danke!
