I hope all are well. I joined a couple of years ago in search of help with a Tram radio. Always had fun with the CB stuff just life got in the way. I started unboxing some stuff and here is a pic of something I got on a package deal. Help me with the knob on the side. Have not even plugged it in but thought I would start here.

No way to know by the photo, other than it is someone's modification. If you take a photo of inside, that may shed some light on what it is doing.

Thats what I was thinking. Like I said had it in a box and never powered it up. Assuming to works correctly what would I expect to hear from that.

I think its a standard CB. I won a auction and this was in it. The knob on the side is obviously a mod. As nomad said its most likely a frequency expansion. Does that mean picking up side band. Im not a expert hence the question what is it. Its interesting for sure.

I'm just trying to figure out why someone would do a freq. expansion on a plain AM radio but then again I'm no expert just curious !

Gool ol PC 76XL radios. I think I only have 2 of those floating somewhere in the garage. Might be a good candidate for me to put out in the mobile for a good AM radio. (I currently have a PC68XL in there, but needs to be brought back inside for some attention.)

I have fun on AM just as much as I do on SSB. Definitely enjoy hearing the good sounding stations. (I do my best to try and decrypt the overdriven/distorted stations.)

Yeah I forget not all areas are dead on AM like around here. I felt lucky today to get 1 radio check today on 19 AM to make sure my radio was working. Some times you can't get any locals to answer to save your butt.

I have not powered anything up in my central Tx area but Ill bet its active. Another reason the pull boxs off the shelf and get the Tram up and running. Hopefully Nomad will assist a bit. I found a guy to recap but does not have the equipment to test output frequency. One step at a time. Anyother input on the Uniden Im good with it.
