Can the receiver be tested alone without hooking up the Transmitter to it? I want to put a 27.???Mhz 30%modulated signal into it for testing?

Or you could just find an 8-pin "octal" plug. Add a jumper wire from pin 4 to pin 5. A second jumper wire goes from pin 7 to pin 8.

This is really all you're buying in the overpriced fleabay listing. An 8-pin plug with two jumper wires installed.

The receiver is perfectly happy to operate alone, so long as those two connections get made to the transmitter socket on the rear.
