I can't make out a name or power output. I just know its old. All I have is a picture, the amp belonged to the grandfather of the guy that gave me the Midland radio. He's not sure he wants to part with it , I add asked him for a price. Today he said let me think on it a little bit, it's just setting in the shop collecting dust so im kinda thinking if you can make it work and use it I think my grandfather would approve. Just give me some time, I'll probably just let you have it. I told him I'll give it a home and it won't go anywhere. But if I can't get it to work, I'm pretty sure I know someone that can. I'm not gonna press him for it, but I would like to have it

It looks rough. It almost looks like it was damp for a long time and got corroded, but maybe that's just dust. Hard to tell from the photo. If the insides look as rough as the outside it's going to be a major project to get it back to good working order!

Yeah, i was wondering if it got wet myself. I kinda figured its pretty much a complete mess inside, I've never done anything to a amp don't even know if im capable of doing anything to an amp but I would like to try. I don't figure it works any way so if I can't do anything with it I guess it really doesn't make a difference .
I'm not that good with electronics, im capable of some of the easy mods most average Joe's do to radios . But reading about a lot of the projects y'all do with radios and amplifiers has me interested in trying, but I don't know if im capable of anything that's as complicated as the projects I read about on here.

You're just being modest, and the only concern I have is for your safety. The first time I opened a tube amp, I felt that touching anything inside meant a long, painful death. Well, that's kept me alive this long. I still perk up when I open one though. Just be careful, keep a Jesus-stick handy everytime you open it, never open it while plugged in, put the covers on all the way when testing and remember the transformer can kill when plugged in, the capacitors can kill/mame/ruin your day with it unplugged. From what I have gleaned from your posts, I think you can repair it or at least learn from it.

I appreciate your concern and confidence in me. Yes! Getting electrocuted was the first thing that popped into my head. I have to rig up and rig down the generators on my rig so im kinda aware of stored energy and back fed energy. It's kinda ironic that im the guy scared of lightning and electricity and im the guy responsible for making sure the rig is supplied with electricity. I don't really work on electrical parts, but I have to plug in and unplug and turn breakers off and on that are capable of killing me. I remember one night I had a new hand with me in the VFD house that has some of our high voltage Breakers in it. We weren't getting power to one of our HPU motors. I just remember he asked what does this do? All I got out of my mouth was DON'T!!!!! then it sounded like a cannon went off and there was a big flash and the whole rig blacked out. Standing there in total darkness shaking in my boots I finished saying, don't touch that that. I was so happy to still be breathing i wasn't even mad believe it or not. Now when someone goes in with me that doesn't normally do anything in the VFD , before I even open the door I look at them and say don't touch anything! You can accidentally get both of us killed!

I may not even receive the amp, lt belongs to a friend of mine. He just said he'd think about giving it to me if I could put it to use. And i just thought that if it doesn't work maybe it would be a good project to try my hand at and if it isn't working anyway and I can't get it to work then I haven't lost anything but my time and effort and some money. Like my co phased antenna i may have use someone else's plans but I gathered and and assembled the antenna myself and added a few personal touchs the antenna I copied didn't have( only structurally ) but I still beam with pride when I make a DX contact. So I figure if I get the amp and could actually get it working that would be an awesome feeling

I think you meant "revealed", but depending on what the inside looks like, reviled may end up being a better word LOL!
I was doing good considering that I didn't have my glasses on
I am slowly learning that as I became old and decrepid not to sweat the small stuff because no one pays attention anyway....
