Choosing a 6 meter antenna

Novakor, they are both great antennas. My input is on the Cubex. They make a very nice product and it goes together very nice and fast. I have a 5L2m7l wich is a five element on two meters and 7 element on 70cm. Very little noise on the quads, great reception. The only bad thing is that they don't handle bad weather and they are a pain to tune. They also have great custumer service. 73's Tbone

My quads are set up for ssb and they sound perfect on fm. Just my two cents. Tbone

Re: update on antenna

From what I have seen helping string a few is that it is best to string it up in the place you want it, As high as you want it and THEN take measurements. You may have to drop it down a couple of times for tuning. If tuned at a different location or height you will probably still have to tune it again in it's final location.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)">

IDEA: REAL CHEAP EVEN

run a piece of old coax to your attic and make a dipole for 6 meter

even use coated wire if you wish its cheap

468 / 50.125 mHZ = 9.33 ft

make is 9 foot 6 inches for play

split that wire exactly in the middle attach shield to one end and center to the other end to make a "T" and a few foot of string to the end of the wires to hang in the attic

Trim to an acceptable VSWR

Will a 6 meter dipole work in an attic?

HELL YEAH IT WILL <img src=http://users.joplin.com/dutch64804/posticon51.gif ALT=":51">

enjoy the band until the snow is gone

I have to disagree with the 10K. This would not be an acceptable antenna for use on 6 meter.

Now I could be wrong but only way I can tell is if you send me one to *TEST* <img src=http://users.joplin.com/dutch64804/icon95.gif ALT=":jumpy"> <img src=http://users.joplin.com/dutch64804/posticon36.gif ALT=":36">

Hello Happy Hammer:

WHAT YA MEAN YOU DON'T THINK IT WILL BE A ACCEPTABLE ANTENNA FOR 6 METERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:">

I use one andit kicks butt on a lot of locals with beams that use the Gamma Matches.......................

Ok I'll send you a Interceptor 10K made for 6 meters, say 50.125 MHz.

And you send the babe that posed for your picture here.<img src=http://users.joplin.com/dutch64804/rolly.gif ALT=":rolly">

Hello Happy Hammer:

OK Can do easy GI, there is a 6 elemet yagi beam out there that Brian Beezle posted that is quit impressive.

You will have to cut some tubing, buts not a problem.

I can set you up with the Balun, and Hairpin Matching System. What size Boom does that MaCo Beam you have use?

Hello Mole:

Not a show off, just scrape lengths of aluminum tubing.

Hello HH:

Yeah kind of similar. But its similar only, not what I use tho. I won't go any further here.

The MaCo 5 element beam can be converted into a really neat 6 element 6 meter beam with a few modifications.

Hello HH:

Ok I have a little more time here to reply.

The MaCo 5 Element Beam will be modified, removing the stock elements, and install a Insulated Boom to Element Brackets holding the new shorter elements. I have made several of these insulated brackets for other applications, in amateur (20 meters beams) and commercial (VHF Beams) antennas.

The 5 elements will be the Reflector and Directors, and I will make the driven element, so that accounts for the 6 elements.

www.uksmg.org/yagi.htm

As the specs say for this yagi beam a full 10dBd Gain. Now thas a lot of real world gain. So if you feed the antenna with 100 watts of power from the radio you will see a 1000 watts of Effective radiated Power (ERP) going out. That ought to be able to snag a few stations on 6 meters when the conditions are right. Then you could put a 6 meter Interceptor 10K on top of the beam.

The ARRL will no dough will want to have your picture on the front of QST Magazine, with the antennas in that back ground with some Babe hanging all over you. Men will fear you, and women will adore you. You can buy 6 copies for your Mother, hehehehehehe......

The bad thing is that Moleculo will want the 4 element, 17 foot boom version also.
