I don't know if this will help, as I was unable to find what you needed, but it seems that the 138 is the same bird as the Midland 13-893. (which, also, I was unable to find its alignment procedure)

Ok I found a Sam’s Photo facts manual on ebay for that radio for $7 bucks! I have probably spent at least 2 hours searching the net with no luck, 7 dollars is painless. Thanks for every ones help.

13-893 and 13-895 use the same board, I emailed midland for my 13-895 and they sent me a pdf service manual also. Free! I could email you the pdf if you message me you email, I am home now and have access to my pc.
