What's the story with these Cobra Plus model CB radios? Cosmetically they look cheap but how do these radios perform?

Cobra 19, 20, 31 and 40 Plus Models

I personally have never owned a Cobra. Any model of them. I know people who swear by them but, I have heard quite a lot of bad on the new Chinese made ones.
I believe these Plus models were manufactured in Taiwan back in the 90s. I really can't find much info. about these Plus models.
They have reasonable sounding receive and transmit and got pretty loud but they were plagued with PLL problems. That's why they were only around for a few years.
The "plus" Cobra models were best known for failed parts you could not buy. Parts that were not used in any other brands of radio, so no "junkyard" way to fix them.
