On the Cobra 29 ltd/gtl and the Dwight D and cobra 1000.

Is there a location on the pc board to monitor the frequency with a freq counter.

I know on the Cobra 142/Madisons/Washington and radios that use the MB8719/8735 pll TP 1 which is a resistor on 1 side is a good place to monitor the frequency. Is there a point on the AM radios mentioned above to do this?

thanks

SAMS on a 29GTL says TP5 for a similar location. This is AM only so there are only two alignment steps on this one... but yes. TP5 on the GTL.

It appears to be TP6 on the 29XLR.

I don't have a SAMS on the 29LTD so I can't be sure about it.

The 29XLR used a uPD858 PLL. It was a whole 'nuther (earlier) chassis, than the GTL and later 29's.

The main differences between the 29GTL and the 29LTD is, the GTL had red LED Channel displays, the LTD had green. Minor, if at all changes in component values, but about 99% the same. They both had uPD2816 PLLs. You can use the same Sam's for either. Also, later versions (see cbtricks.org) use mostly the same components and board layout, too, even the latest AM/FM 29, which other than the CPU to control the frequency generation and channel display, the receive and transmit component numbers and values are the same as the old GTL/LTD radios.

A comprehensive cross reference between Uniden circuit-boards numbers and the brands/models where they were used would be really cool! The XLR radios are different from all later 40-channel Cobra models. President's name became Uniden some time in the 80s. But only in the USA.

I have a vague recollection of someone starting a project like that, but it was probably on a long-dead web forum years ago.

Would be handy.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
