A resistor that's "quieter" may improve a circuit that handles very small signals. But in a power amplifier with large signal voltages you'll have no way to tell the difference. A capacitor with lower eqivalent series resistance will make some circuits work better. But other circuits won't reveal any difference.

There's no hard-and-fast rule that applies to every circuit and every way of using passive parts. Just stay away for the old carbon-composition resistors. They're famous for drifting resistance value and for wearing out in circuits that dissipate any real power in the part.

Any favorites to put in....or just whats on sale? Do you try to cross it to the old Radio Masters Parts Book? I guess I'm really trying to see what you do on your own stuff, your keepers. I'm just starting to order for a 76 Johnson 352 CB and a 1965 Poly-Comm Pro CB, one for each of my Ramchargers. Thanks, Mike.

Has anyone priced out the kit themselves?

$10 shipping for such small items that will probably be shipped in bubble envelop.
Yes, but buying from parts houses usually have a minimum order of components in excess of what you need, a minimum cart and shipping near or greater the price KM charges. To get the quality capacitors KM sells often requires purchasing from more than one place.

You could buy inferior Chinese capacitors cheaper, but with capacitors, you get what you pay for. We have all had that idea of gathering our own kits, hoping to save money, but the time required to search and compile carts, pay shipping and waiting, it's hard to beat Mikes offer. Unless you want to buy enough to make many kits, you may find it's not worth it. The $10 shipping wouldn't be so bad but Mike is shipping out of Canada.

For this purpose of this exercise we are lucky, I have a Digikey cart open and have hit free shipping already with other toys.

That's why all the questions, I was going from 1936 and 1942 AM Radios to 20-30 years in the future working 1965 and 1976 CB. I knew that any real brand cap was better than a dried out 1936 one, but I didn't know how "Bare Bones?" a 1976 radio was, and if such circuit could or would be able to make some use of a better cap. I decided on the Vishay Dale RN/CMF Resistors, see https://www.vishay.com/docs/31027/cmfmil.pdf It's pretty well excepted, even with tubes, that they do better with quieter resistors.

Oh, you do pay tarrifs in the cart. "Oh Canada"...get on the Trump train will ya, you costing me my play money!! Mike
