Covid Gardening

The dedicatory page for the first-edition of Covid Gardening, might be in honor of the hundreds of thousands of TP seedlings that perished when a truck driver had his dog (Moochie) take the wheel when he ran out of service hours near South Dallas Wednesday morning.

Truck rolled when Moochie spotted several raccoons on the IH20 embankment at 0445.

The screams from the conflagration sent birds spiraling upwards into the dark as trees in The Trinity Forest shook awake to this horror.

Awe sheeit! Thought you had concocted another Slowmule story there. Just kicked on the news to catch the weather at 10. Holly cow, what a national catastrophe! Probably worthy of another national holiday. Burnt awl dems TP seeds up with the rig. Hope Moochie made it.

Picking up a load of hydromulch (dry ingredients). Most of it goes to Houston for export — but your friend was thinking of you — and hornswoggled enough extra mixture to cover three acres. A specialty of the American Lower South. A legume that not only removes lead from the soil, but combats erosion, breaks clay soils, is drought-hardy and affixes nitrogen to tired soils.

Goats & cattle can subsist on it. Humans can combat not only cancer, but reduce alcoholic tendencies and gout with a tincture. Blood pressure levels will come down. Rheumatism and baldness addressed.

Paper can be produced. Methane Gas, another.

An impressive list of benefits I haven’t exhausted.

Found a man with a mobile spray rig outside El Campo will meet me in Ganado at the truck stop. We’ll shoot down TX-172 and give your surroundings a new shade of blue-green.

Why, in a year or two ALL of your neighbors will have a special regard for your name as the man who brought Japanese Arrowroot to Lavaca!

Gonna be quite a birthday, heh?

Slowmule,

I grew up in South Alabama, with the effects of Kudzu, that shit takes over everything. Yes, bovine will eat it, actually turns the milk Green and unpalatable for baby bovine. Kudzu will climb trees, cut out needed sunlight, and choke all other plant species. Was brought into Alabama in the seventies as a erosion cure, once that Bama red clay starts cutting out it's hard to stop. They figured this would stop the erosion, but like you stated it breaks down clay soils. In Alabama where eroded areas got planted there was a wash of red sand. Truck that junk farther west, drop it in Santa Monica were it might do some good by causing effects that result in a bunch of liberal yuppies getting slid out into the Pacific. (y)

The Vine That Ate The South

The cure worse than the complaint.
(The era we are living).

Been about a week since last till in. Watered in couple times and fortunately light rains. Will have to rake by hand to keep weeds at bay, tiller got loaned out. Will be back week or so, have other plots needed around to accommodate seedlings started.

Seedlings coming up. Squash, tomatoes, cucumbers. Wondering if the bells, habanero, and wax will germinate (not included in pic). Starting green beans, jalapeno, and romas today.

Container squash blooming, hope they didn't get too much rain.

Cucumbers on other side coming along. Squash and cucumbers will provide needed shade for coop later.

Some bells, jalapenos, and sweet bananas starting to do their thing.

Cherry 1000's blooming nicely. I just eat these right off the bush. Very few make it indoor for salads, though have gone into chilli or pasta sauce nicely.

This concludes the virtual walk through of Covid Garden today. Apologize for any delay previously, we were experiencing technical difficulties and we are happy to be back.

Remember, don't over water the TP seeds.;)

Balance is key, right? By the way, speaking of unique plants, have you ever looked into camphor trees? They're quite remarkable in their own way, tough and versatile, handling various conditions effortlessly.
