Don't know if this story has reached this forum yet, got a link to this story from an old pirate-radio pal. Yeah, Steven's old. My advice is to steer clear of Belarus.

I'm sure there are lots of folks who would love to snatch the "one-one-one" guy with a Star-Trek transporter and pop him to the heart of Belarus.

Oh please let's do that! And the "crying baby" guy too..... And the guy who plays Fox news all day every day....... And the guy with the Hitler speeches, And the guy with the air-raid siren sound effect........ And a whole bunch of other radio misfits.
I'll happily contribute to the cost of the charter flight LOL!

Very true. Yet Russia is one of the worlds biggest users of the 11 meter band! They have a 160 channel band that is heavily used by truckers and various other business users, especially taxi companies and couriers. Just like in Europe it is nearly all FM & SSB modes. There are a number of online SDR's in Russia where you can hear these types of comms for yourself!

There is also a thriving sideband hobby scene centered on 27.195USB for domestic comms and good ole 27.555USB for international. From here on the west coast of Canada, I can sometimes work stations in the eastern part of Russia around Vladivostok, Khabarovsk and Sakhalin Island.

Not sure what the ham scene is like in Russia, but I see plenty of Russian stations on the cluster sites and on dxmaps.com

So Belarus may be a Russian puppet state, but it would seem the attitude there towards ham and CB radio is very different than in Russia itself!

N8YX is right. They're swimming in the same gene pool as Stalin, the USSR and 40 years of Cold War, expecting them to be different people seems unrealistic. Puppet state means they do as Vlad the Impaler instructs, and that's not likely to be the kinder and gentler approach. Murdering each other is what they've done for centuries.
