I like the radio, everybody says its loud and clear.i run the mic gain half way knob centered.
But when squelched it has a whine from alternator in both of the trucks i drive. Both trucks are alike.they have the factory hookups for the wires.i cant change anything to the trucks. Noise is dead when no load is on the alternator, lights off ac off heater off etc.
Anybody got a reccomended noise eliminater to put in the power cord? And where to buy it? I had 1 years ago.it lasted a long time.cant remember where i got it and make n model either.
    This whine is annoying too

They make a magnum filter for these radios. I have one on mine. But don't remember where I got it. Try Bobscb.

I'm late to this but Undertaker is spot on, a Magnum filter cord is all you need if you can find one. They appear to be discontinued. You might have to watch E-Bay for one.

Otherwise - tricks I learned from the older HR2510 days...ground thru the case -only if you know you have Negative Ground Ignition - where the battery ties its' Negative to frame.

But, you drive truck, don't know if you have a dual battery or run an isolator - so I don't know if the above frame O(of truck) to frame I(of Radio) is going to work - in some instances (like starting) you can get 24 volts across the terminal and poof - gone...

The Delta Force is a Negative Ground Only system - so that means the chassis and case and foil ground is all at the same DC potential - so that means Whine can come from when the potentials are inductive at various points in the frame - like Door Frame to Cab Frame - so that means the antenna coax shield itself can cause a ground current to form and you hear it as whine because the alternator isn't exactly pure under no-load - or low- load conditions - the Stator / Rotor and regulator thing - ties together but doesn't mean you don't get ripple.

So, if you haven't burned up the coax yet - try removing the negative wire at the power cord jack - internally - and solder it instead to the back panel ground side of the simple cap filter lugs mounted in there - use the case frame ground instead - skip the ground wire route back to those batteries and use a SINGLE POWER WIRE connection to the KNOWN RADIO fuse location at the trucks fusebox. Let the coax, or case to frame connections - be the ground for it.

The best way I can explain it - is the effect of ground currents you are hearing, it is from phasing (Stator field winds Trio diodes) and poor regulator (resistive connection events) and ground returns are not the same at all points involved. Letting the frame be ground for it is like making a Faraday cage - using the only true return ground as your "earth" ground.

    Hope this helps!

id run 2 wires if i could.boss rules only use the 2 posts on dash for cb hookup.id install a breaker in the positive wire and run a ground n positive straight from batterys.its got 4-12 volt batterys wired as 12 volt negative ground.id also make sure all parts are grounded.but its an ecm engine so must be grounded good enough to run knock on wood

Gotcha, but how is the antenna setup? Twins, single?

When you get whine, whether it' a Merlot or a Cardonay - it tells me a loop issue - so just covering all the bases...
