I picked up a Dentron Clipperton L and the 10 meter part of band switch is burnt up. Is there a way I can make this amp only work on 10 meters and do away with band switch???? I do not need the other bands.

Ah, seems like a self-explanatory kind of modification. But only if you have already done it, I suppose.

Bypassing the band switch is a common "hot-rod" modification, especially among hot-rod types who like to disregard the, ah "red line" and burn the switch contacts that way.

I don't remember having pics on file showing this, but I'll have a look next time I'm at work. The 10-meter coil is probably shared with 15 meters. Bypassing the band switch usually takes a piece of #12 solid wire.

In the right place. I'll see if I can locate any visual guidance on file. Don't have a good enough picture in my head of that output circuit to get specific from memory alone.

I once had a Clipperton L. I too had bandswitch issues. I would harvest switch contacts from junk box switches and fasten them to the wafer with #2 screws.

Thank you nomadradio I am sure this amp was hot rodded for sure. I just know it will never be used on any other bands but 10-11

I thought for sure I had snapped pics of a Clipperton some time in the last 23 years. Didn't find any. I know we lost a few folders of radio/linear pics in a hard drive crash 15 or so years back, but who knows?

Couldn't even find that kind of image on line.

Been too long to just describe it from memory. The coil for 10 and (usually) 15 meters is fatter than the 20,40 and 80-meter coils. One end will typically connect to the Plate Tune control. The first tap point from that end of the coil is where the jumper wire attaches. The other end goes to the Load contol.

Unless I'm remembering it backwards. But that's the gist.

  • @ Hambones amps:
Does anyone know if you can replace the 2290 in a galaxy dx 93t twin turbine with a 2sc2879 red dot? If so, what would have to be tuned?
  • @ ShadowDelaware:
Hambones the entire amp section would have to be retuned, and the rf transformers re wrapped.
