FRS radio range

Most decent frs sets are good for at least half a mile. I haven't been back to the US for a while, are super W-Ms that big now ??

correct, I typed something then changed my mind so I asked for my post to be deleted.
Yes they will cover a walmart range, but remember, and walkie talkie or any radio for they matter has to accept interference from other devices per the FCC. You may be able to talk from one end of Walmart to the other, but you may also run into a lot of interference as well inside because of all the other electronics inside the store. Buy a set, try to get some that have a good range on them 30+ miles if possible, they do cost more.
I use these for work, they cost around 80-100 dollars. Advertised as 30+ miles, they will eat some batteries up so if possible get the lithium batts for them, they last longer. Best I can say is buy a good set and try for yourself. Good luck and don't forget the dual antennas lol.
