Galaxy DX99V frequency problem!

I have a Galaxy DX99V here that when you have it set for the regular 40 it wants to jump around on freq and I noticed when you flip the HI LO switch to LO it won't jump but when you flip it back to the HI side it goes nuts again then after a short time it will come back on freq. Has anyone encounted this problem or have any suggestions on repair I have sprayed it with some good contact spray but didn't seem to help.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/eyes.gif ALT=":rolleyes">

Sounds like what you need is somebody who knows how to use an oscilloscope and an alignment tool.

The 10.24 crystal is famous for going out in this radio, and other models/brands with the same crystal.

If that were the case, it would go nuts on both the high and low bands, not just one of them.

A 'scope reading of the tuning voltage at TP2 will probably show that L17 is set wrong. There is NO way to get that one right using just a wattmeter, or by watching the S-meter.

What you need is somebody with a clue, the tools, and a little experience with that kind of radio.

this is true, if it's set wrong, the high or low bands won't work at all and the radio will appear to be "out of lock".
