Good mic for a 2995dxcf

Shure SM58
Bobby,
I've been using a Shure SM-58 on my Kenwood for about 25 years!!!(y)

I think I would shy away from a power mic on that radio. The one I had was full of audio without a power mic.

Another new radio?

Hi, David not a new radio just dont like the stock mic. I looked at the shure how would you wire that to a 6 pin?
Thanks Bobby

Its not too bad Bobby. No channel up/down buttons on this set up.

I got a desk mike stand from Radio Shack, a momentary push switch, a short pig tail from an XLR mike cord (about 8"-10"), a short chassis terminal strip and an old mike cord.

I drilled 4 holes in the mike stand.
1 for the momentary push button switch
1 for each of the 2 mike cables-XLR and four conductor cords.
And one under the mike stand to mount the terminal switch to. (drilled and tapped for 6-32 screw)

The microphone audio wires (from the XLR pig tail) are wired to the coiled cord audio wire and audio shield.

The "key up" wires go through the momentary switch. The shield wires from the XLR pigtail and 1 of the audio wires from the XLR cable are tied to ground at the terminal strip.

Sounds complex when written out. Maybe a couple of photos will help.
