My Granny used to carry an old 38 S&W in her apron pocket. She also hunted rabbit and squirrel with an old 16g up into her mid 70's.
She was a West Virgina back woods hillbilly. Outhouse, well, cooked on an old pot belly stove and smoked a pipe.

My WV grandma was exactly like her and there were guns. In my teens I could barely keep up with her at 75 yrs old walking uphill to a spring well to fill water jugs. Yea, she lived way back in the woods.
