I have been watching a youtube channel called nanofix. The guy is an absolute wizard with game console repair. Anyhow, I was watching this video below on voltmeter probes and decided to get a set of the probes he has. Followed the link in the description. They are just over 8 bucks, but since I was a new aliexpress customer, they gave me over 7 bucks off. For $1.07, I have a set of those probes coming. That barely covers the postage. So if you are not an aliexpress user, here is your chance at what appear to be really nice probes for a buck (the ones with green foam grips).

But I got similar probes from them a year or so ago at almost the same price.
Yes, I completely agree that these sharp probes are very useful. Besides pricking yourself with them I mean. <grin>

I made one little tweak to them, it's really only the sharp needle part I need and when you're poking around in areas with your DMM where you can short out things very easily I wanted a little extra leeway..
So I added a little extra heat shrink tubing around the rest excluded the tip. As you can see it even still fits the protection cap on top. That extra heat shrink saved me a few times already.

Probably should redo that again soon with some red or transparent tube.

When mine get dull I take the file to them.
I also use the heat shrink to cover the shaft. I have a long thin screwdriver insulated the same way so I don't short out something getting to the adjustment/screw.
