Seem to remember reading somewhere that one of these two amplifiers that used the 3-400 that you could not slap a 3-500 in. It was something about the chimney height and the height to the top of the case or something. You couldn't put the taller tube in. Does anybody remember exactly the case with this?
Thank you
I don't work on a lot of Henry's if at all if I can help it.

Saw more than a few that had the low-profile heat dissipators on the plate caps, and a hole cut in the shield cover above each tube. The painted top cover would have a gap above the the tube cap sufficient to avoid arcs. Just can't use a heat dissipator that's taller than the tube's plate cap.

The original chimneys would cut off the airflow. Too short. Coleman lantern globes would sub for them a la the Drake L4 amplifiers. And if you have the bucks, Eimac made a taller chimney with the smaller top hole tall enough for the 500 tube. Won't be as cheap as the Coleman lantern globe from Wally World.
