I don't wish bad luck on anybody but your making me feel better.It's only suppose to go down to 2 degrees F tonight with a high of 12 degrees F tomorrow. I have 2 coal stoves burning so I'll hibernate in the house tomorrow.
Mildest and wettest winter in decades out here on the west coast of BC. The coldest it got all winter so far was -2C. Sitting at +2C right now. Been up to +10C lots of days. We have however had biblical amounts of rain.....lots of flooded river valleys and such.
The big concern here is that the snowpack in the mountains is at an all time low, and that will be a big problem in the summer as that melting snow feeds rivers that millions of people depend on for their domestic water. Also it will massively increase the forest fire risk, and more fires is the last thing we need!

These last couple of days we're experiencing ice quakes. The sound like sonic booms during the day. Shake the ground and the house.

It's unusually warm here we had 68 today, hit 70 yesterday.
The bushes and trees around here are starting to bud because it's been so warm and that's not good, no doubt we'll see more freezing temps before spring.
Not much snow pack and if it stays warm it's gonna melt off early.
Snow is the lifeblood up here.

This is the worse winter we have had in a while but no where as bad as they use to be. I was kind of liking Global Warming but I guess you can't count on it. Use to be we would enjoy owning a snow mobile and you seen them everywhere but you never see them around anymore.

just thought I would be an "Adam Henry" here.
was just outside in a T-shirt, dinking a cold beer, with my
cellphone camera in hand. I thought I saw an alligator a few days
ago. I did see a large green Anole lizard.
that one white/yellow flower may be a wild onion blooming.

on a lighter note: I know how to repair A/C's (air conditioners
and refrigeration) (also a HVAC/R Tech here)
it many cases it is an electrical problem. The compressor may
not come on all the time due to the start capacitor failing,
or the electric thermostat control, or a run capacitor on
a fan.
if you call a A/C joint, they will tell you your compressor is bad,
and you need a new outside unit. ($7000 or so)
also make sure the metal cap with a gasket is on your
Schrader valves. refrigerant leaks there. You get
the "ice up" outside on the lines when the
refrigerant gets low.
very easy to diagnose. A/C's. far easier than a Ranger radio!
I hate seeing people getting ripped off by the HVAC
guys.

Well today the thermometer FINALLY rose above the freezing point for the first time in over a month. Usually we get some stretches of cold followed by a slight warming trend where it gets above freezing for a few days and then it repeats. The river behind the house has been frozen over for nearly a month now. In the past decade or two it would freeze over then open up several times a year. NOT this year. Oh well.....two weeks from today it will be in the mid 80's for a week. Of course it means a four hour flight but 80 degrees is 80 degrees and I will take it.
