From what I recall, Radio Shack locked this rig down. I've seen proposed mods and they've all been useless.

I recently seen a local Facebook post which had a NOS HTX-10 for sale. Dude wanted $125 for it. His ad mentioned it could be modded for 11 meters.

So, is there an actual working mod for the HTX-10?

I tried telling this fool it can't be done. Said all you have to do is change some resistors and such, before reminding me he does this for a living and not hobby. Guess the new owner will find out if he decides to convert.

Lol, then tell him you will give him 150 for it after he mods it and shows you it works.

https://www.radiomods.co.nz/trc485mod.html was a mod that I found from another post. I have one of these radios, but have not done the mod, still no sure if it will work. I think he is talking about the trc485 radio. I did see there was a way to add a roger beep to it which I thought would be a nice mod but have not done that yet. KF4UEY

Not the same radio. Not the same vendor. Different computer running the show.

There is a 22 MHz master crystal on the computer/PLL pc board. Replacing it with a 20 MHz part will move the coverage down to 26.0-to-27.70. Just moves the original 28-29.7 down 2 MHz. The display won't change, you'll have to do the arithmetic in your head subtracting 2 MHz from the display.
