Icom 718 purchase?

Great SSB rig, but not an AM monster. Replaced mine with a rig with with better RX but can't make myself get rid of the 718.

Out of the box, it's not an AM monster. A few minor tweaks are needed. Get inside and lower the carrier, and turn up the modulation. Some people turn the max power up to 200w, but it's not really needed. I run my rack gear into the rear accessory port. Big, loud and crystal clear. With my Carl Built 4 pill, DXing is like a walk in the park.

Keep it off 11 meter AM, if you want to run SSB then yes use it. I was recommending it to the OP for ham use not 11 meters swinging.

Ok I got it for $200. Did the 11 mod because who dont and why not. Anyway seems to be ok. Rx quality is different from my yaesu I’m used to. Already had the dsp filter installed.

Now, how to get away from the electronic mic and back into my cartridge Motorola mic
