Kenwood ts-440 dots on display


That's the classic symptom of the dreaded TS-440S pll unlock. If it's not happening on all bands this link might help. There is a section titled "Possible cure for TS440 showing dots only on display". I've owned several 440's and have been lucky enough not to have experienced a pll unlock. It's not an uncommon problem for the old 440 to have.

Thanks! The radio in question belongs to some other guy and I was wanting to help but lack that knowledge about the Kenwood. Thanks again! Now I know more.

Yupp I been there and done that with a 440 I had for several years its a common problem and as stated theres tons of info on this subject online ;)

    Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
