LesComm Radios

I have checked out Lesters youtube channel and other radio shop channels. I feel for anyone that paid Lestercustom to "enhance" their radio. The guy replaces two capacitors and filter (reduce bleed over) on a Stryker 497, then claims his "tuning" gets solid 200 PEP Watts. D-rail $1000 modified Stryker 497 don't get near that.

When Lester turns RF power all the way up, the watt meter goes backwards when talking. He then turns RF power down half way and says "this is the sweet spot".

He won't reply to emails and has youtube comments disabled.
Will let you know what happens after the court date on March 10th. Took getting the sherifs office to serve him the summons. Would not respond to the BBB complaint and would not respond to the lawyers serving the summons. Got to tour the neighborhood before the first court date that he did not show up for and also got to see the drop off site for his UPS pick up point.

He did not show. Judge said the statue of limitation expired after 4 years, and I said no it didn't, and so did the lawyer. Judge dismissed the case. Lawyer sent documents stating it was 5 years because it was a written contract. Judge yesterday reopened the case and found that the defendant(Lesters custom truck shop) liable(guilty).

Hopefully you will get your radios that were supposed to be worked on back and he ( Lescom) doesn't do something stupid like try to get rid of them or destroy them,etc...glad he was held accountable for his poor customer service and action's,etc......No customer deserves to be treated like that!!!!

Less is a well established and well known technician. He has had formal training in electronics. I believe he started out with electronics in the Navy.

I don't know what he's up to now. Regardless, he's not some truck stop CB tech. He knows what he's doing. His designs and contribution to the hobby is substantial. I'd trust anything he does. He's definitely not a moron.

I would say he is a crook from my experience. I don't care how good he is.

I can't speak to that. I scored an old Cobra 148 clone from him. It was a considerable time ago. Everything was fine. I don't know what he's up to nowadays. Seemed to have a good rep back in the day. People change, though.

It's been some time but I bought a few of his channel boards and installed them and they worked great. Just a short while back I had some questions and received quick response and advice on my query.
Seems unusual, but then again, I had some bad experiences with a well respected radio shop in San Diego that was a Ranger authorized repair and lost a 696F base radio over the deal.
I think Mikes radio repair also gave a lot of people trouble and he was well established and respected by many.
Seems to me these folks (techs) get worn or burned out or something. Can't explain it but seems to happen quite a bit. Not trying to soften anything but I think all of us have stories of similar experiences. Glad you stuck with it, I gave up myself as I have enough problems...and I am also a major procrastinator, or do I just lose track of time?

I hope you can collect on that. Too bad good techs let stuff like this happen. Should never have had to come to this.
